Movie Designs

Cool stuff Scott, I really like the designs, ZBrush is great for work like this .I personally like that you can really design in 3D and that you can print up multiple views of your design to sculpt from. We never did have that lunch let’s do that
Rick

Hey MM Thanks,
I agree ,not haveing to do multiple drawings,or sculptures for that matter, sure does save time, Not to mention 2D renderings are rarely accurate when coverted to sculpture.

PS I will PM you today about lunch.

…who don’t know yet the use of Google
Hills have eyes

Now these boys are from my neck of the woods.
Boozy: there are a lot who still “work in caves”… metaphorically speaking.

Who was speaking metaphorically?

  1. it’s dark.
  2. it’s dank.
  3. bats,bones,spiders.
  4. guano.
  5. bat guano
  6. angry troll (hi)

Yep it’s a cave!

I was…albeit serripititiously re: people who ask questions that have already been answered…thats all.Uh… like your work dude.

Yeaaaah, we are cavemen! We bring variation! We do not ask information first from Google if we want to make a new creation. Stop the culture and the inspiration!! No parents, no education!! Just autonomic art… Uh, what can we make, only looking at our toenail? Maybe a twonail, but this will be plagiarism
Please do not touch my ivory tower…

Yeaaaah!!

Scott - Great work. Cool to see you here. This is Kerry Gammill from the old Steve Johnson days. After lurking here for a while and following some of Rick’s work, I’ve decided to finally take the ZBrush plunge myself. I just hope I can learn such a complicated program at such an old age (52). I downloaded the demo version and have been looking through various tutorials but so far I still feel pretty lost. I’ve been getting familiar with the various tools, but I still have no idea how to start a head drawing. Any tips on the best way to get started with the idea of mainly doing creature and make-up designs? Thanks.

Kerry

if you go to the gnomon website http://www.thegnomonworkshop.com/ you’ll see a range of zbrush learning dvd’s to choose from. i’ve only used the alex alvarev head sculpting set - i can’t recomend it highly enough, it’s a very comprehensive and well taught tutorial. from using the basic tools to putting it togtehr in maya. there are others to choose from as well.

Hey Kerry,
good to see you here!!!
I will send you a pesonal message and fill you in.
Scott

And by the way, everyone that sees this should go out and buy Kerry’s book on Basil Gogos!!!

Scott - Thanks for the info you sent. Very helpful indeed. And thanks for the mention of the Basil Gogos art book. The second printing has just arrived. If anyone is going to the San Diego Comic Con this week, Gogos will be there at the Vanguard Productions table with plenty of books available.

Kerry

Ok I’ve got the hang of this google thing http://www.kerrygammill.com/

A pleasure to view such great work - look forward to see if ZBrush will be of use to you.

Thanks, Mullet. Those look interesting. My main computer doesn’t have a DVD drive, but I have a laptop that has one. I’m assuming I can play the DVD-rom on a different computer than I’m working on in Zbrush, right?

Kerry

Calm down Gammel!(yes you will be able to play it! )

Help is on the way ,Check your e-mail later!!
PATTON

Aka, The Voodoo Monkey

Today I’ve watched the movie. Not a bad one.
But very Uh-merican. Ever powerful flag. Praying scene.
I’d also say too much survivors:)
It has its momments, my favorite is when that mutant cut of fingers,
that was… ouch!
Why the mutants didn’t eat the baby? It would be “logical” start with a baby,
its not likely they started to feel a father’s kindness.
I guess you have to save the baby in todays movies, like in 2003 Texas Chainsaw or in… Spider-Man:)

I’m not sure what word to use for these models…
“pretty” is somehow wrong:lol:

I can’t really answer any of your questions or even make too many comments, mostly because I have not even seen the finished film, I hardly ever watch the films I work on ( I’m weird that way!) But ,Yes the film was “tamed” for the release.

Thanks for the nice words though!
Patton

Heyas Patton,
