Monsters, Mutants, and Madmen

Nice sculpts. i like them so far

I have to be careful in the way I word this however, I know these are just ruff sketches but their is a certain point you should not give out anything and only work on your own portfolio, everyone should be aware that the amount of hacking and not giving propercredit for sources has increased with the globalization. While people in the industry may tell you its how you maintain ideas and continue to be inspired. It really isn’t. What I have seen this industry become is a mess. Art has never and will never be about sharing or money and while for some unknown reason I still do have some delusional respect for the educational industy(idealism related) The fact is their will always be someone willing to spend more time on your design or idea than the people working any job for that matter, and people working in the industry who are connected that have money rather than ability willing to steal to keep the bottom line regardless of profits.

So what I am saying anyone reading this saying wow or thinking they should display work BE CAREFUL it takes life time to develop a new style and a minute to steal it.

Thanks again everyone it is always motivating to hear from everyone. Teyon, I have a few new tutorials I’m working on. As things slow down and I finish them I will make sure and share them with everyone.

Had a chance to do a Lunch Crunch today. I hope to get back into creating these more often. Thanks as always for watching Boils and Ghouls!

The first work as an idea it seems moreof an exercise as the reptilian portrait is a overly fanaticized insci-fi culture, what I am trying to say is it seems you approaching it from a bulk shape concept. Everything does not have to look human to be readable as human just the evolutionary math, if you don’t know whereit comes from its in organic chemistry. The scales on the outer edges are interesting in shape as the curvature of the forms excetuating the eyes and age of the character works well for the trapped memory, the sizing of the scales on the face could be exaggerated further so that the expression reads better around the edges of the mouth seems course from a functional level and while 16x9 rectangles around the nose appear asthetically pleasing I havenever seen scales that rectangular from a formation developmentperspective, other than some leather formations. On a working note itis fun to do everything by hand but some automation techniques maycome in handy with the variation and cleanliness of the scales plus amore rapid detailed approach to the character planning or iterates of a character with scales. From a evolutionary perspective how scales and scent form in cold blooded animals may be of relevance indesigning the facial characteristics. Thinking of blood flow formations may be of some use, when designing things. While you may have perceived negativity in my ideas, scary things are when an artist wants to better themselves, and no one can actually say something useful. So take as you will.

love all of your work!

Awesome! Who’d think there was so much to a flea?

Great polypainting! The colors blend real well.

Beautiful stuff, always inspiring!

I think that flea would be any dogs worst nightmare. Groovy ass design man.

Thanks guys! I’m pretty excited about the new season of Game of Thrones and decided to make a dragon. That was a polite way of saying, I’m a giant nerd!

Really digging the dragon. I like the bird influences there (I think I’m seeing bird influences). Great work as always!

Beautiful. Love the elegant forms.

Earlier this year I worked with VVDFX and Director Steven llous on a presentation for Hansel and Gretel 2. In the end the studio went in another direction. Working with the team was an amazing experience though and a fun ride. Here are just a few of the undead we designed for the possible project. I will post a few more soon!

Thanks everyone for taking the time to respond.

Here is a handful of early sketches I created to explore some ideas for some ā€œkey undeadā€. I really wanted to push some fantasy and dark magic ideas with these. You will see we ended up taking some of these to a more finished state.
