Monday Night Challenge #3 - Spacecraft

Thanks for the kind words and for the interest. I decided to do a zscript that embodies how I got the detail into the ship and how I did the thrust exhaust effect with the colorized glow material. This is two seperate scripts.
Important
Instructions:
load and play the first zscript it is called pusspacetexalpha.txt, when it asks for a .ztl click cancel. Let it play through then immediately load the second zscript which is called pusspaceshiptech.txt,
this will finish where the last one left off.
Note: the second script will not initialize Zbrush.
Hope this helps, please let me know if it runs ok!? Or if you have any questions.
Take care,
Michael
Jaycephus… I’ll have to look into that glow problem, hmmn…
MTB… I agree, the versatility of Zbrush is truly amazing!
script#1
pusspacetexalpha.txt
script part2
pusspaceshiptech.txt

The Chtuberr’an sporeships just passed the earth without noticing the pity lifeforms.

Phew … .got away this time

Here is my entry…I figured space ship = space travel…and who says all space travel will be by ship? OK, so I couldn’t model a ship to save my life, so this station is the best I could do. Sorry I broke the rules. :frowning:

Great scripts PusGhetty. Thanks!

Mentat’s S’squorls test the Gamma Device!!

Test explosion with ring:

Much easier than testing real matter/anti-matter devices!!

Further experimentation:

Jay,

I love S U N . P O W E R E D Nice job!. For your transparent flame effect, I would scrap the glow material. Use the transparency effects like you have, and use MTB and Mentats technique of bringing it back in for post work. There is a glow brush that you might find effective…

This thread has shown just how good these challenges can be. We have some of the very best z art I’ve seen here in one place. The tips shared for a tip junkie like me has been outstanding. Everyone who’s posted should get a pat on the back.

Congrats to all.

hi! this is my try to create a spacecraft, i think its before the time of star-trek, maybe a prototype

well…this was my first challenge!

Slosh! I have great difficulty accepting that you couldn’t model a space ship. Considering the extravaganza piece you just posted here!!!

Mentat is racking up some awesome ships on this thread. :+1:

In the spirit of the space them on this thread, I searched the web for earth and moon textures. I found a wonderful site with many choices. Here is a link to that site: http://oera.net/How2/TextureMaps.htm

And an image I did with the maps. View of Earth from the Moon. I know the perspective is way off, but I wanted to show the awesome textures. JPEG messed up the resolution, of course. The textures are very clear and beautiful in other formats.

Thanks Slosh. I had that url long time ago but lost it.

Wanted to post one more with all the tips I’ve picked up here. The ship is still weak, but better than my first one thanks to pusghetty’s tips.

my contribution.
Sorry no more idea, I love space theme … but… I don’t know why… not very inspired.

so, here is my work.
and thx all for your inspiration.

OK I went for the “near future” ship. It’s actually an idea I have…which by the way NASA you can use it as I don’t intend making any spaceships anytime soon.
The way it works is thus:
At the front is a hoover which sucks up all the space particles coming in contact with the ship. Once inside the ship, the dust etc is ionised(positively charged). It’s then directed out the back and hit against the wings which are also positively charged. As everone knows like charges repel…so the dust goes back and the ship moves forward.
Heh…It probably wouldn’t work, but that’s my idea anyway.

Awesome thread! How do you get that shiny effect, like in Nemo’s star?

David

Excellent thread! these images deserve to be shown in…
Gallery

This gallery page will be updated when this challenge is over.

Few of the ‘how to’ images are currently not included in the gallery. Please add the following tag [GalleryEntry] next to each of the images that you wish to be included in the gallery.

Question to members: Would you like to see similar ‘Monday Night Gallery’ pages created for future challenges?

Hoping to ‘find the time’ and participate in future challenges,

Pix that would be super! I was compiling the pictures together at the end just to be able to see them in one shot, but this week I knew I wouldn’t be able to do that since there are so many, and such good ones that shrinking them down to fit would be a crime.

A super idea and offer Pixolator! Question…at what point in the IMG tag line do we place the [GalleryEntry] tag in?

Looking forward to possibly seeing some of your work in these challenges.
