Can you blame the man for being an entrepreneur? Im not sure if you’ve ever picked up a gnomon dvd before but the info shared on them is worth every penny and they cost an average of $50. And the fact that you can now purchase topic specific tutorials given by fellow professionals at a fraction of the cost of a full dvd is a GREAT idea. I mean it seams most of the content is around 5 bucks per tutorial and the average length is a half hour. WHat could be better for someone who is serious about learning but not made of money?
Don`t feed the trolls !
it´s ZBrush 2 with the ZMapper v1
Many thanks!!!
And your dvd is due…?
Edit: ran to site before I read the comments here.
Will only say that the thanks is underlined.
The people who are involved with the first batch are the
“best of the best”.
I have said repeatedly that I consider the dvds put out
by you and Meats to be the most valuable of the ones
out there.
To add something else, as we know you are also a teacher and
this puts something extra into your lessons.
I would like to know what it would cost if we were to pay the
people involved in this to personally show us the material.
Or the price of, not to mention the inconveniece of, attending a class.
With the prices of individual dvd’s, this is a perfect way to
“pay as you go”.
Who can put a price on knowledge.
As one member said, if you are involved in the industry, knowlledge such
as this puts you ahead of your competition in the job seeking area.
Repeat, thank you, money well spent!!!
Yeah the ZMapper tut is for the only Zmapper available at the moment. I have been usig it a lot for the past few months and felt a good video walkthrough was in order since a lot of features are overlooked. I have some 3.0 specific tuts in progress as well. I hope everyone enjoys the site and the content as it is added. I am excited to be part of it.
best,
Scott
Hey nice. I was always looking to get more Gnomon videos, but the ridiculous shipping costs to Australia (more than several discs!) always put me off. Video streaming with no shipping? Yes please!
this is great!!..
I was checking that you have some tuts on lighting and rendering in maya and also some tuts on after effects.
question.
-Does one of this tutorials covers in depth how to set up render layers with Mental Ray?..but not just the common render layers, but also layers like refraction, SSS, GI…etc…
Request.
-If you don´t have a tut on rendering layers in maya with MR, please make one that covers the set up of all the layers of a complete scene…better if it´s an scene with a character with things like hair, water, GI, SSS, etc…all in it´s own layer.
THANKS …GNOMON ROCKS
It would be easier for me to access it later if I ever needed it. Dont know if anyone feels the same but it would help me out =) Great tutorials btw I really appreciate everyone’s generosity.

Very cool, indeed. So, Alex, picked up your Gnomon head sculpting tute DVD and am, now, wondering when you will do another!? I love your presentation and the video is at normal speed - which is great for slow people like me. I love your DVD and would love to see more - so whatcha say?
Later - Mike
didn’t know you had to pay for the tutorials… bummer
Thanks Alex, way to go!
This is so great. Finaly I do not have to wait 2-3 weeks for the shipping. Instant downloading is the way to go!
And as always from you guys over at Gnomon, super good stuff!
Thanks Alvarez, Meats, Petroc and Spencer!
Wow… thanks so much everyone for the support! Really makes us excited after the last few months of craziness!
To those who are bummed that they aren’t free… well, I don’t think you realize how much time it takes to put tutorials together. It is a LOT of work… seriously. For example… the ‘making of smile’ tutorial. It took me 10 hours to make the image. It took me four days to put the tutorial together. If the tutorials were free, the site wouldn’t be able to exist. And its not like I haven’t made free tutorials for the community (same with Meats, Scott, etc)… Just look at the free tutorials section at http://www.thegnomonworkshop.com… Those are all free, including several hours of free video tutorials.

Yes, A.Alvarez, I’m gladly paying for your videos. Supporting you guys for the really good job you do on those videos. I think we should thank you guys for sharing your workflow etc. Thats respect!
I joind the 5 week ZBrush class at gnomonOnline with Scott Spencer, learned so much! He helped me to get to the level i’m at now.
So again, thanks for spending so much time creating this videos.

Thank you for expressing what I felt!!!
I have bought a couple of videos. Downloading now
i completely agree. some people just take these things for granted. the last timelapse i made ( which doesnt even have audio, like you guys have, and its faster, and therefore is harder to read than what you guys have ) took me a week and a bit to go from start to finish. thats while working as well. some people just dont realize how much time some of this stuff takes to really appreciate it. anyhow, its nice to see that shipping wont be taxing users ( especially overseas. ).
As a fellow educator I can appreciate the cost of knowledge. $10-12 is really not a lot considering that college or personal time with any expert usually can range from $300-500 for about 6 hours of lecture/question time.
Alex, nice work on smile. I see you decided to leave the background similar to what it was in the original eh?
OH, and I just read that you are working with James Cameron on Avatar. That sounds rad. I read the story treatment way back in the late 90’s and have been waiting anxiously since then. The story always sounded like an interesting concept. I’m sure he’s made serious revisions but just know that I’ve got high expectations
Meats: It would be so nice if you also could release your upcomming ZBrush 3 dvd as an instant download
