Meats Meier - Organical, Mechanical Z3 Experiments

I’ll probably never catch up to you, but I will certainly try, thanks for the inspiration meats, and thanks for sharing your work with us.

wow.awsome
thisis the type of art that I was really looking for learn it. can you tell me how did u do this?did you create the objects one by one and after all set them together to create a human?
or is there any other way to create a thing like this? for example if I wanted to model a human, made of pages, what should I do to set them together and make the head of my human?
if you explain this to me,I will really appreciate you
good luck

Thanks guys/and or gals!~

I used the mesh extraction tools in the SubTool palette to create the individual parts.

The whole process (boiled down) -

Create base form in Zbrush or external package.
Mask off areas of the geometry and create new SubTools from the selections.
Sculpt and weave all the parts together.

For the reflection material, I took a picture of a chrome sphere in the actual environment (you can see me doing that in the image). I cropped the image of the chrome ball in PS and then used it as a material image in the shader.

Hope that helps!

When you realize the rawness of the illustrations, especially primitive aspects of communities mixed with this alien kind of surrealistic imagery, some of the best of these images in my opinion are almost allegorical to todays society, where are witnessing the birth of a strong yet brand new technological society.

Sorry to sound too “artsy”, but that how I felt looking at some of the images, especially the ones with the clone type of people that are constructed the same. The idea of a sexless, grey community of other-world types is just really cool in my estimation, and their clay-like primeval designs kind of bring the whole idea of technilogical machinations to the primitive earth.

Whats also interesting and inspiring to me is the whole idea that I could do these things myself if I can learn zbrush better and I definitely see this style as something Id like to also identify with someday.

Or maybe I should have just said:

“AWESOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOME”!!! :+1: :+1: :+1:

I love these!

ZBrush shader? Which one?

Then just composite the image with the photo?

I like the way you explained that  Thanks!

ZBrush shader? Which one?

You can pretty much use any one when tweaked right. They all work the same way - it’s all more or less a reflection map projected onto your geometry. The main difference probably is the lack of much cavity in that chrome material.

Then just composite the image with the photo?

The photo on the image he linked was actually on a different canvas layer in the background and was rendered all as one.
If it was for something serious, yeah, I definately would render it seperately with an alpha channel and then take it into Photoshop or AfterEffect to do the final compositing.

Thanks.

Do you know of a half decent tutorial on the web that talks about composition like you do in photoshop?

hey Meats Meier, your renders are awsome. i love how you use 3d programs to create your pieces of art. can’t wait to check out your next dvd.

I got the Z3 Dvd yesterday! I’ve only had a chance to watch a few hours of it but man! I learned so much that I didn’t really know or had forgotten since the first dvd! Thanks again! I can’t wait to get home and watch the rest of the first disc! So much useful information!

I love these tutorial dvd’s because sometimes people say the funniest things off the top of their head as they are going along explaining things! I bet those things are fun to do! I laughed hard when you said something about using a “crusty” alpha and when you gave that character a skin disease! hahaaa

looks great!!!

Hi Meats! Just wanted to say that I bought your Gnomon DVD on ZBrush3, and its helping me a lot! thanks! pls have a look at my thread when you get the time:
