Love your work man.

I’m curious do you have SSS on his skin? At the moment it looks rather plasticy. Also your arms seem a little pink compared to the torso which seems to be brownish.

thanks for all comments!!!

ok…the head needs a reflection map…or I have to take HDR lighting. I´ll change this

yes, I used the Vray SSS. it´s not easy to handle this shader
looks like I have to change the settings… but how ?

If there is someone who can tell me what I did wrong with the SSS, please tell me.

Not too sure how Vray SSS differs from the Mental Ray version. I’m more familiar with the latter. I know that a lot depends on the lighting when initially setting it up. I think your scene is way too dark. You have lots of cool details in there that I think will benefit from a bit more light. HDRI is a good route to take but could mean longer render times.

I like too much last one,
and your hadgehog was also very cool. keep sculpting.

still looking good, keep going, the hard work is producing some nice results. when you’ve got the shader setting sorted out, this will look great.

thanks guys !! I´ve tried to make a better skin shader.
I don´t know what I´m doing wrong
this is the final for now. I want to start something new.
thanks cameron ! thanks moni ! thanks everyone !

COOOOOOOOOL  . I think you put together a nice piece here :+1: nice work.

Hey pitchepuck,

Congrats on the final, it’s something which you should be proud of. Especially from a modelling perspective.

With the skin shader, to me it looks like your specular is very consistant over the model. I don’t know if you have a specular map on the model? But that could be one of the things giving it that ‘plasticy’ look. Getting your skin shader to be perfect is something which takes a lot of time, and still something that I’m trying to master myself. One of the ways to set it up is to put lights in certain spots and then tweak the settings until the results are how you would imagine them. EG put a light behind the ear or hands and tweak until you can see the SSS coming through as you desire. Then move the light round to the side and tweak your epiderm/subderm settings.

I’m by no mean an expert and perhaps someone who has used VRay SSS will be able to give you some better hints.

I think this is excellent work though. Congrats and looking forward to seeing your next piece.

@ gregoconn
thanks for your comment! I will try it with the lights. and I will shange the specularMap. but the skin has already one  but I try an other one. maybe you are right that it is to constant.
thanks :+1:

nice work!

 I AM BACK

I changed alot shader settings for the skin. this is a realy good object for me to learn the Vray skin shader. well, I think it´s better now. the head was so much work, that this scene must be perfect in the end

That looks so much better man! Amazing.

I know your going to hate me for more crit  But I think there is too much specular highligh on the pads of his fingertips.

You’ve just stepped it up a knotch and it looks fantastic!

Looks much better. Only thing I would change as a quick thing is the background color. I understand you’re probably going for the brushed metal look for the background, but for the gritty nature of the rest of the scene it detracts. Doesn’t have to be a major change, just a color shift and maybe get rid of the reflections.

Great job though man. It’s great that you stuck with it and kept polishing it. It was good before, but it looks so much better now.

Great improvement! I liked the concept a lot, nice fine tuning. :+1:

I´m so glad that you all egree with the new skin shader !
thanks for the comments!!!

ok yea, the fingertips are to glossy, I know. I´ll change it. and yes, the background is not good like this, I absolutely agree ! so I will change it too…

still alot to do.
I´ll be back

Hey really nice update! This render is a vast improvement on the last one. The skin looks much nicer too. I’m liking the skull as a base too :+1:

I love the characters - great stuff

Na Du alte Säge!
The skin looks very good now IMO! Especially in the chest and stomache area.

Regarding the base… hm…hm… it`s a really nice skull… but …
I hope to see the other [color=LemonChiffon]base soon.
