M. Bison

Unbelievable good!!! Congrats man…it’s insane!

Woooooow, Itz Simply Owesome… Top Row…:d

Superb sculpt & texture! Well deserved Top Row! :+1: :+1: :+1: :+1: :+1: !

Wow! Amazing work. Truly inspiring. Very excited to see whats next!

Finally getting around to replying. Its been one of those weeks…

Thanks for the support guys!!! I’m glad the design is going over well even though I know its playing with fire. Could be worse. There is surely things I wish came out better.

I’m always glad to post on ZBC. Such insane work on here and everybody is supportive. I’m on the site all the time but sadly I hardly ever post.

Womball/StefanH: The ear is admittedly the worst part. I was never happy with it. I did some passes on it but I should have done more - or gone back to the drawing board. It is supposed to look chewed up and all thick, basically a “fighters ear” but the thing is i had to do a lot for the competition (all original work) very fast and so it got the least treatment. Then later i realized i just never went back and gave it the time it needed for the final render.

Fighters ears are nasty. The reference i used was mostly BJ Penns ear after i saw him fight this other guy in MMA on a co-workers giant projection screen (you can’t help but notice)… But originally i htought of it from remembering watching these japanese wrestling videos when i was a kid. My friend had them. There was a character named Mr. Pogo with a 2x4 wrapped in chains! haha. But anyways they had really f’d up meaty nasty ears in that.

So yeah if people dont like that its chewed up, well sorry but that’s was my choice.
If you think the overall quality and execution of it sucks - i agree :/… it pales in comparison to other parts.

Goldo_O: Thanks man! glad to hear it from ya. I was just admiring your awesome work just the other day.

industripop/cmoffit: Oh man I don’t think i can handle another SF character :). I’m done. hehe. I’m glad I brought this one all the way through, but i need to do something else!

StormSinger: Thanks… I know, Bison is a top fav. SF character for me, but he always pissed me off too. I love/hate his slide attack! Infact there was a love/hate relationship while making him

Benj Wheeler: HAha, yeah thats kind of a lucky thing about Bison, and even guile. That they look pretty good standing firm. Especially Bison given that he would want to come off pretty symmetrical and steadfast. But i’d like to atleast do a quick rig and a few basic poses if i can get around to it. I like to use CAT for 3dsmax. CAT is pretty sweet and if you have somebody run you through it in a couple of hours (plus a base understanding of rigging) you can get into it really quick.

King_P / Adio38: I’ll try to get some wires up. Its a medium res. I left in a lot of loops that I could remove. I believe he’s around 50k triangles, and i could get him down to 25k probably decently. The inside of the hat and boot are modeled. Stuff like that. He is unwrapped like a game character would be, and the polys are laid out similarly (nicely) but i didn’t have much of an incentive to optimize. I spend all day at work doing that (ugh), and this is just for fun, so really theres a lot of extra loops and things.

its not really “single mesh” for contiguous meshes theres the Head, Hat, Upper Body, Lower Body (T-section seam is under the beltline), Boots, and i believe Forearms etc…

Beowulf: Mark! I’m in ur cubicle eatin’ ur swedish fish… clippin’ mah toe nailz … while ur on vacation. I was going to detail him even more with little things on the metal plates and a big logo/insignia on the back of the cape depicting “Shadow Law” etc… etc… but as i worked on it i felt like it would just retract from it. All my logo mock ups were teh fail anyways. I tried so many things, some of which i thought were pretty nifty, but they just kept looking, uh “extreme” … like i was trying too hard. Or it just didn’t fit his serious look. anyways, i stayed away from messing with too many areas. Especially the red cloth.

mfontaine: Sup man! I’ll have to get some textures up.

Chris Spade / Danko75: Its so hard to say how many hours. It was broken up over a long period of time. Sometimes i would be doing a lot of work, and sometimes i was watching more entertainment stuff than working ;). So “too much time” might be an answer. Or perhaps weekends when I could and some nights during the week since April/May. Wow i can’t remember.

drkdve: Thanks man! thats great.

MKK316: Akuma is cool. I just can’t do another SF char, not right now :). Vega would be cool. Or Dan LOL! Sagat… mmmmm

MoP: Thanks! Yeah I guess i should post it on polycount. I was wary (ever since guile) of posting on some game forums because of certain things… one being the constant back and forth over the polycount and game-tech stuff etc… and constantly explaining that its a, i dunno, “cinematic model” or **** the categories its just something i wanted to make. I’ve been thinking of doing lower res versions of them. So like a 20k Tri 2048 Bison… and load him up in UE3.

Killnpc: hehe thanks.

rbarton: I use a lot of subtools! i have been wanting a folder setup for subtools for a long time now. I would liek something like PS where you have folders that you can name and set a color to, and open and close them etc… But then again i’d like a lot of programs to rip off PS.
That said. yeah theres a lot of subtools. Bison is broken into i think 3 ztl files. The original upperbody file that includes the Head,Hat,Shirt,UpperBody, and forearm stuff including the hands. The second ZTL is the Lower Body which is the pants and one boot. The third ZTL is the cape. I decided to do that in its own thing. I bring in “demo” subtools of lower res stuff (in one giant chunk) for referencing things across. So theres a belt and some stuff for the lower body. And some upper body chunks for seeing how the cape relates. - i’m all about seeing the relationship of things throughout the entire process of the character. Time consuming, but worth it. I don’t have it open right now, but i would say about 15-25 subtools per ztl…

Desmoda: I was thinking of printing at least the upper body bust. but i need to think about that more. i haven’t had time to think about it at all… i’ve been so busy. But I would like to print something some time. If I did I would like to get in some sort of pose and perhaps facial expression.

I don’t think quite got the cauliflower ear. I’ve see it quite bit of cauliflowers from the fighters at my MMA class. The inner part really puffs up a lot, like in those pictures. . The inner part of ear swells up a lot. Although did M.Bison get in a fight with Mike Tyson (Balrog)? A little eating action! The chewed part works. But its not a big flaw at all.

I wonder what a Street Fighter with your characters would be like to play? Hopefully nothing like the Street Fighter the Movie game with Jean Claude Van Damme.

a big soldier ,beauty texture

This is a fantastic model. Congrats on top-row! The texture work is first rate.
5*

Man, i saw this earlier and I am blown away by this depiction of M. Bison…it almost has a samurai feel to it… The modelling is top notch, the textures are sweet and crisp…all he needs is some psycho power…

really ,really great work!
love all!

Alex Oliver

all i can say is icredible!

great work !

Nice work.

wow you made no compromise with the quality, this is the most significant character I’ve seen lately, keep up this good work!

Hi, I have been drawing for years, but I have just started to get into the 3d world. Zbrush is amazing although I am still learning. Here is a model that I am still working on. Any tips and critiques will be greatly appreciated.

Great work, I like design and color.very original. I feel a little strange winth the bald head, but only my opinion.

been away for a week. Very nice to see some great new work on the top row. the texturing is what really gets me. well done.

one of the best high rez model i ever seen ,great work:+1:

Excellent work !..Maybe the shader is too plastic for me…(the wood doesn’t look like wood…metal doesn’t look like metal and so on…the Specular Map need certainly more polish/precision) …but excellent work…congratzzz

Five Star for me of course.:+1: :+1: :+1: :+1: :+1:
