Logen (The bloody Nine) - Head study

Logen, not Logan. lol… I applogise for my spelling, you are completely right Logen in the books is spelt with an ‘e’

How am I bringing the community down exactly?
This is a public forum where people are free to express their views. Whether it’s critism (which any artist should embrace as long as it’s directed correctly. Note that I praised the work. It’s simply not my idea of what Logen looks like based on the description of him from the book), or whether it’s rapturous applaus for an outstanding piece of work.

Don’t let it get personal, folks. No attacks.

I don’t know how anyone can knock this beautiful detailed artwork down. It has a alot of character and form to it. Id be glad to be half as good as you are.

Thanks for the recent critics and compliments. They all help and will be used in future projects. Lets keep the thread to artist critic and discussion. I still feel like a right git for spelling his name wrong haha! Must get the thread title changed! lol

hey love the detail in the character…any chance we’ll see a textured version at all? perhaps u could post some turnarounds…say of the back of the head area.

Man, I didnt know why I havent checked it befor, really cool !
but we all want to see more mate! bring some more characters to us! and dont give a damn for those unecessary comments! keep up with your good work! :+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:

You people are misunderstanding.
I’m not saying the piece of work isn’t very good, no way on earth I would be able to create something like that.
What I’m complaining about is that it’s named after 1 of my favourite characters, of any book, ever. Based on the descriptions from the book (The First Law, by Joe Abercrombie), It isn’t particularly accurate.
If someone posted a drawing of someone more well known, ie. Tom Cruise, Micheal Jackson, whoever, and it looked nothing like them, wouldn’t you feel the need to point out the various pieces you thought needed re-working?
ESPECIALLY if you’re a huge fan of that person/character

Animatt - I’d love to texture him, unfortunately I recently contracted a rather nasty case of Lazyidess. hehe… I will get to it…just not sure when! lol
In the mean time here are some different angles.

Thanks funkdelic, mdale13 and snake85027 for your kind words. I haven’t been working on alot these days, the links below are a little bit more of my (also uncompleted) work from a little while ago.

It’s funny to see the model after a long brake. so soo soo many mistakes and corrections to make before I texture!

Perhaps I’ll just find a nice angle, render a image, and paint/touch it up in Photoshop

Oh and thank you to the moderator that kindly corrected the thread title spelling for me :+1: SideShots.jpgback-1.jpg

It is called interpretation.

Great piece Toastman.

man! really love the character!! It mas my inspiration to do my Barbarian!
congratulations again
Alex Oliver

I think its great I seem to remember that s he’s a berserker and countless headbashings so the fact he got any cheek bones at seems a plus I always thought of him as having a bit of a humor in him maybe thats just his thought process lolololol
incredible rendering

awesome! reading through the books right now and the first thing that came up when i googled the bloody nine was this.

of course he’s not the exact way i have him pictured in my head, maybe a little more lean and imperious than my imagining, but that’s the beauty of literature right? the way i always pictured him was somewhere between this guy and the dude who plays Titus Pullo.

regardless, fantastic work! also loved your secret miracle script for making all that chainmail :+1:

say one thing for Logen Ninefingers, say he’s got a ****load of patience for placing chain links. :]

awwwsome!!! work good novel :+1:series also

In the character description in the book, he’s got a crescent shaped scar around one eye socket, and the whole thing is out of place with the rest of his face. His face is described as looking “like a whipped back”.

I love this character. I think this version is excellent–maybe meatier than I think of Logan as. I’d love to see more of this model.
