I think that the muscle flow on your main creatures, the minotaur and the underworld character and the brutalis, needs some improvement, as well as your anatomy study. Particularly the pectorals on each. On yours, the flow starts at the clavicle and flows down and towards the obliques/lats. They should start at the sternum and flow up and away, towards deltoid on the shoulder.
The render of the minotaur looks great and it is difficult to tell the muscle flow on the render, so maybe it is not that important on him. For the others, because it is your personal work and is a wip, it would be an easy change. To me that was the most distracting part.
I do like the textures on the head and wings, keep up the good work.
gboess: thnx for the comments, but i disagree with this comment concerning pectorals:“They should start at the sternum and flow up and away, towards deltoid on the shoulder”.
the pectoral doesn’t simply start at the sternum ,
it is also attached at the clavicle (and the ribcage actually).
if this wasn’t the case, the pectoral would be hanging like a hammock from sternum to deltoid and it would be useless.
also the minotaur in white isn’ t the minotaur that is rendered.
the gargoyle has been redone.
finally did you see any of the other images?
daruking:thanx
double post
You are correct, the pectoral does connect to the clavicle, sternum, and on the lower end, the ribs as part of the fascia of the rectus abdominus from the abdominal fasciculi of the pecs. I should have been more specific.
My point is that with yours, it seems that with the lower 1/3 of the pecs, it looks as if it flows from the sternum (or ribcage area) outwards, but ends connected to your ribs.
Lets call the “start point” of the pecs on the humerus. It radiates like a fan, so the start is always on the humerus and it “ends” on either the clavicle, sternum, or down towards the ribs. There is no point that starts at the lateral of the ribs (where the serratus and obliques are connecting to the ribs and are under the pects anyways) and goes inwards to the center of the body, connecting either on the sternum or the ribs.
Even the pectoralis minor starts on the humerus and fans out, ending on the ribs. But this is completely covered by the pectoralis major, and makes no difference.
On the left image I have, the left side (right pec) is your muscle flow, and the right side (left pec) is how I see the muscle flow should be. On the right picture of the 3/4 view, I have again traced your flow and circled the area where, to me, it doesn’t look right.
I think that your art is great and you absolutely have a huge knowledge of anatomy and sculpting techniques. The issue with the muscle flow is really the only fault that can be found in what is otherwise top shelf material.
i agree that it isn’t perfect and you are right on you observations.
this was an underlying muscle sculpture that would aid in making
the smoothed version.
the areas you marked are wrong in my sculpture, but they helped me make the muscles as I wanted them to be in the final.
I wasn’t trying to create an anatomy chart image
it was more like adding pieces of clay in order to smooth them over like in a
real sculpture.
even if i made them flow from deltoid to sternum, I would still make them fleshier near the deltoid in order to create the bulged look that i like
of course i can clearly see a lot of mistakes in the legs, i corrected most of them at the low poly level since I had a deadline.
and the only area i really think looks realistic is the gluteus maximus in the real-time screen-shot (even there I have done more corrections since this was taken), the rest needs tons of tweaking and you can see I didn’ t do anything with the hands and feet…anyways… If I have time I will correct them
thanx for the time you spent crtitiquing my work

Hi guys,
as some of you may know, I live in Athens Greece
and for the past few days it has been all hell let loose.
The event that started it all was a murder, a cop that shot
a 15 year old kid in cold blood through the heart.
This piece is sort of a satirical tribute, showing that the ones causing the mayhem are actually the cops that have sworn to protect us.
After the events a cycle of peaceful marches and riots started. People were doing damage to the city of Athens and the media tried were trying to blame it on the demonstrators, something we knew was only partly true.
Finally somebody had the balls and showed a picture of masked men with clubs talking peacefully with cops, confirming the public’s suspicion that it was the government’s job.
RIP Alexis
