Very nice work and cool idea. Looks awesome. The only thing I would say is that I’m not sure if they are in a swimming pool, a lake or the sea. Maybe adding a small detail to give a clue. But leaving it ambiguous as you have it is also a good idea
One small suggestion - perhaps having the eyes closed could have a different effect on the image as a whole? I know you stated earlier the specific reasons but just a thought…
I can’t see my comment about the eyes, but I agree. This setting suggests a forced kiss, not a romantic situation.
I personally do not think the eyes open make it seem like “a forced kiss”. I rarely close my eyes when I kiss my girlfriend (call me weird) but that does not mean it was a forced kiss. I think people often get too caught up in what they are “supposed” to do, like close your eyes when you kiss, or get down on one knee when you propose marriage. If I stand on my feet or sit down and ask is it not right? Anyway, I do see your point, as far as getting the idea across. In this case the concept and idea is very clear, and eyes open or closed doesn’t change it for me.

So about the eyes, yeah i agree that the overall feeling could be more romantic but its not the principal intention, theres already a nice portion of romance into the image and its enough, then i see it as a second read, it could suggest that she is less romantic , she rarely close her eyes when we kiss even when its a big kiss, she prefer to see who she kiss is this less or more romance … mmm … So instead of the missing romantic feel, i think it add a mystery behind, why are her eye open ? why she wanna see who she kiss ? the answer is your interpretation … and the image a portrait of the reality .

Beautiful work man. It’s always so inspiring to see a conceptual image such as this instead of just a typical model in black model space. What I think about the open eyes thing is that it’s a great detail and it’s definetely the right thing to show but to help eliminate a little of the “forced kiss” feel, try relaxing her expresson a little bit so that even though she knows who she is kissing she is perfectly content with it, and not like “Who’s kissing me!? Oh it’s you…” Either way 5 stars!
