Nice work! I tend to avoid dynamic hair cause it’s so frustrating and always comes out wrong for me
Hence Looking forward to your fur rendering guide, would appreciate that, thanks!
I cant waiting for this tutorial ! thanks a lot and Congratulations !
Good work, it’s great to overcome obstacles. Looking forward to your tutorial!
Cheers,
Keridan
You use Shave for the hair eh? Even better, is what I use too, looking forward to the solution since you googled so much.
I figured one thing out that you can use hair primitives and rasterizer or rapid hair preset settings in mental ray for Shave hair, but with that the rest of the model looks crap, so u must comp them but I didnt find a good way to use this with my lights and as a pass which sets shadow on the underlying model i.e. shadow pass and hair pass etc.
I would appreciate a tutorial as well if you got a good workflow for this.
Also have you ever tried to make long stylized hair with curves in Shave? If so and you managed to make them well I would also appreciate a workflow on that coz mine always suck no matter what I try, especially hair intersections for different hair segment curves. Anyway maybe I’m asking too much, but thanks either way
but i found new problems with render hair.
i want render separate pass for fur&hair ,but the hair primitives can’t render out the passes…
i just figure out how I can render out this passes
sorry,im late.
this is my gird hair.

Hi, i work in 3Ds MAX, but the hair module is still shave and hir cut.
Things to remember:
-
S&H shadows works better with spot lights.
-
Check the premultiplication of your output hair layer in order to avoid weird halos at the compositing stage.
In the link below you will see a cartoon monkey, i rendered the hair using this technique.
cheers,
mirrored.
really nice model! and with the hair it looks so cool.
nice done! now it only needs a cool pose and render.
