Hi,
I don’t understand how you use the spherical blend material to achieve the leather look. Could you explain a little bit more?
Thank you,
The spherical blend material has a channel slot that allows for the use of an image map to be repeated as part of the texture. this give it some color, but mostly bump/depth properties that you can control. Depending on the image map you insert in that slot, you can get a wide variety of textures.
For this image, I made my own custom image tile.
The image map works best if it is tilable. It usually helps to go over the material with 2.5D tools to hide any repeating patterns. Don’t forget to pay attention to the other properties of the material you are trying to emulate, such as color and specular.
I think Ken’s next book should be:
“Getting the most from Zbrush”
The scales fall from my eyes. I can see!
OK, thanks Ken.
WOW !! This IS GREAT!!!
But I bet he loves his mum. Then again, so did the Kray twins. Nope, don’t think I’ll tell him.
Another superb image, Ken. The textures, the characterisation - all spot on.
KEN!
I HATE YOU!
When will I learn to texture like that?
As always, beautiful work, absolutely Brilliant!
I am simply amazed with the extraordinary skills Ken B. has. His texturing is superb and his modeling…well, that speaks for itself.
Excellent talent…keep up the good work.
Loqutos
This is so cool, I love that Jacket.
Thank You for the very excellent mini tutorial on how to create textured materials. I never knew that one could do that and now I can’t seem to stop creating custom materials! Hope you don’t mind if I post a quick result of your advice. Thanks again for sharing talent and skills. You never cease to inspire me.
Good one Ken
I like this very much - thanks for the tips on that material too
no1 Ken
Thanks for the tip on the material info Ken…
Odd thing though about the image…
On my hard drive I have a mohawk chap…I have never posted the model to my knowledge, but I had a look at it for modelling comparisons…there are definite similarities…so I took things a little further with very few pulls and pushes…and came up with the second model here…I didn’t take much care with the modelling…and yes within minutes it began to become your model…I say began…cos I never tried for a look alike…all very odd…still stranger things happen in this world
Anyway I thought it worth remarking on…and am certainly not casting aspersions in any directions…unless you broke into my house, got into my computer etc…not that I think you would have a need to.
Original with modelling similarities…
and after a minute or so…
