i wanna design cars

Best to start with a basic primitive (or two), and model to reference photos. Keep in mind that unless you’re using Zbrush 2 you may find the only sort of car you can produce in Zbrush 1.55 is a fully organic one. Or, forget a car model, and draw a picture of one instead, building the car from objects.

Search the 'net for tutorials on polygon car modeling, and texturing if you’re after more help.

Only organic cars? I don’t think so.

Check this out

no offense please, that car looks great.

but (a big but  ) i don´t think that you can make mercedes slk or a audi tt with z-brush as good as with max or xsi.

dont get me wrong a master like pixolator is maybe able to create a car that looks like this. but will it have the correct proportions?

you can not work with blueprints in z-brush.

but, hey what do i know im trying z-brush for only 6 days.

try out rhino, nurbs is IMO much easier to use for hard surfaces such as cars of engineered items than a subDiv poly modeler or Zbrush. http://www.rhino3d.com/

That said, doing cars “well” is not that easy, and takes time to learn. The whole car making process is also very Left brained, since design is all worked out before you model. No just mushing around some polys to get what you want like in Zbrush…

i agree on the second but not on the first.

there are many great cars build on boxmodeling and subD.
it´s only a question of personal likes and dislikes.

That’s still a pretty organic car, Aurick

Yes, you can use blueprints or reference photos with ZBrush.

Here you will find some crazzy blueprints
Pilou

yes thats where i get a lot of my car blueprints from.

but i would really like to see someone making a car with z-brush from this blueprints. (z-script?)

i can do it in max or xsi but with zbrush… no chance for me.

Hey Guys. First, I agree wit the original replies concerning Z. It would be very difficult to START a car model in Z. However, I have found that it is still indespensable for detailing the interior elements.

I prefer nurbs over box modeling. It’s much easier IMHO. Although I’m actually designing my first car ever. I’ve been in other areas of the automotive industry but never design (I hope I could get a job in auto design). Please check out my post HERE and look at my rough draft and completed wheel assembly. I would love to get some opinions about my design. Thanks so much.

Adam

one problem i saw on the wheel is that the edges look not clean and it looks a bit disorted (not symetrical).

i wish i had a pc so that i could get rhinocerous or max
i have a mac and i am still stuck with zbrush 1.55

Hi Jazz
You can make funny cars just with the Alpha Make 3D !
Import a side view of any car and apply the Alpha Make 3d
Use Some Texture or Projection master
= Funny easy cars !

Past Vehicles Challenge
Some cool try inside
Damned the Juandel image is desapear
I shall try to refind it !
Sorry just a little thumbnail :frowning:

Is rhino gonna be out for mac?
ise use cinema 4d to make cars anyway - my own cars

Sorry Rhino is just for Pc !
FaQ
and
“*Rhino will NOT be ported to any other operating system.” Sorry for you :frowning:
But don’t be sad, it’s not a very easy prog to use !
Pilou
Ps you have some crazzy prog for Mac!

JAZZ- I just started using Rhino on a MAC!! I’m using VPC (Virtual PC) and it not fast because it’s all code based but it is suprisingly quick. Quicker than I remember the last time I used VPC.

For those of you that looked at my post in the Community Forum I’ve started redesigning my car in rhino. It is, as Frenchy said, not an easy program to learn how to use. But what is?? Nothing as good as Rhino could be very easy to learn if it has all of the features it needs. It is VERY powerful in what it can do. If you learn rhino you can model ANYTHING. No doubt that it is a must own for the novice Automotive designer.

Plus, a quick note…I didn’t understand what true NURBS modelling was. I thought HYPERNURBS in C4D was NURBS. It’s not, however. It’s actually simplified box modelling. So, that would explain the inconsistent reflections in my car. It’s SubD and not NURBS! Figure that. Cheers to ignorance.

This NURBS application even better, it’s for both PC and Mac check out at SolidThinking.com

hey enter

thank you for speakin´ about sT – I use it for years together with rhino – both are absolutelly best modeller :+1: :+1: Especially sT with enormous render-engine :+1: :+1:

Look at sT-meshes:

lambo animated slow, bigger, better quality
lambo animated smaler gif
lambo animated smaler flash animation

What is the big difference between us (except the renderer) ?

virtual pc crashes my comp
why is cinema 4d a crazy program?
i have universe 4 (not 5) is universe good then? i also have pixels 3d and clayscape 3d (read the post about it)
i wanna get solidthinking but my comp crashes when i download it
