I Am Spock....

 I didn’t foresee the Spock quotes would come out, but here’s mine. And it fits well with the community mentality.

“The needs of the few outweigh the needs of the many.” Considering how the members of this community continually give back and help others, it’s very fitting.

Yeah, I noticed that too, DigitalDreamer. It wasn’t intentional. Just an oversight on my part since I uploaded that animation to my server late last night. I’ll be uploading an new animation tonight which will have it fixed.

Wow Really cool KrakenCMT!!! Fantastic Model and Technique! I’m a fan of the Old Serie!

Long life and prosper…

:+1:  :+1:

To put up a Spock image and not expect Spock quotes is illogical.
(Sorry I couldn’t resist.)

By the way, I like the wrinkles on his uniform.

Looks great, good job

Here’s an untextured version. I also fixed the problem with the neck clipping the collar in the turntable animation.

Now I feel like busting out my ol’ VHS Star Trek collection…

SpockRenderGI.jpg

Glad to see you fixed the neck clipping the collar.

I like the untexured version, though…

Fascinating is a word I use for the unexpected. In this case, I should think “interesting” would suffice.
Spock in ‘The Squire of Gothos’

“Mr. Spock, the women on your planet are logical. That’s the only planet in the galaxy that can make that claim.” – Kirk (Elaan of Troyius)

“Emotional, isn’t she?” – Spock

  • “She has always been so.” – Sarek
  • “Indeed. Why did you marry her?” – Spock
  • “It seemed the logical thing to do at the time.” – Sarek (Journey To Babel)
Ok, no more quotes, But keep up the good work KrakenCMT.

Superb work, the only little thing in my mind is the neck bump seems to strong but Im just observing from a novice position here!cal

I’ve had several comments about his skin, so I touched it up in Photoshop a bit to smooth out the bumps some. Also tried a bit of soft focus to soften the image up a little as well.

Spock2.jpg

okay i’m only saying this stuff cause i’m a big trekkie, i’m even named after an TOS character,(my real name not my username), anyway. Spocks skin is greenish, you can see this more in the newly restored TOS episodes. Your model almost has him smiling, not that spock never did that but its atypical of him. Theres something weird about his cranium, it doesnt seem wide enough to me, also the top of the eyesockets are strange, and as calum said the neck bump is too strong. I know you did it quickly so i didn’t say anything before but now that you’re still messing with it…
I do like it very much though and i love how the background coloring is so reminiscent of those old cheap set backgrounds. Also might be cool if you show like the top of a tricorder at the bottom of the image as if he’s holding it.
hope this wasn’t too harsh"he knew where to hit us"-WOK

Spaceboy, wasn’t too harsh at all, buddy!

I wasn’t really planning on coming back to him, but I had several comments about the skin, that I had to. Plus that part was an easy fix.

I don’t see the smiling part, but I did a bit more work in PS on the other areas you suggested and replaced the image above. Also added a bit more hair on the the right side (looking at him) of his face. Look better?

I really like this. I’m wondering if he needs an sss pass. Just a bit on the ear?

The lighting is really good. The hair texture is fantastic.

kraken it looks great, what i meant about the head was actually more on the left side of the image, but if it all looks okay to you that is what matters. i love it anyway.

brett, the question really lies in if kraken was intending to replicate TOS spock cause back then prosthetic ears were not translucent in any sense, so it actually looks more like spock looked as it is now. they never should’ve done that to Yoda’s ears in the new movies.(i know different series etc, in b4 star wars is better than star trek, or borg cube vs death star etc:lol:)

oh kraken what mat did you use on the badge? it really held that metallic thread look in the turntable.

Good head!
Ha, it is very recognizable who it is  My suggestion is a bit fix skin bump under the chin, and a bit change the yellowish in the skin.
The hairs, zbrush-modelling are great!

I was going through my portfolio throwing out some old images that I didn’t think was up to par. I came to the Spock I did over a year ago and thought I would keep him, but he needed a slight update. And I’m one that can’t leave a piece of art well enough alone, even after a couple years. So after a quick hour or so in Photoshop, here’s an update for Spock so he will still have a place in my portfolio.

Now all of a sudden, I have an urge to add Kirk in as well…

Hey man !
I don’t know how i could jump over this thread. i’m thinking to do a portrait of Mr.Spock for a mount or more, just didn’t have the time , and now i see this one.
Nice job ! I’m glad to see that the the good old Spock hasn’t been forgotten.

And for a little crit you must check a little the face proportions, it seams to me that in the reference image you used the face is a little longer and the eyes smaller.
Good luck with Kirk! i’m anxious to see him in the gallery.

Cheers !

You’re right, Andrei. And of course, I can’t leave it well enough alone, so I went back and did a bit of facial correction using the liquify filter in Photoshop. (I ain’t goin’ back to re-sculpt and re-render everything).

I promise this is the last update on this guy.
