how to make seamless textures, help needed (solution found :) page 2 )

<BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>first, skaven252, i tried what you said, but it unfortenuately did not work. it would have been so simple, with no extra work at all.<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>
That’s odd… I tried it myself before I posted the results. Interestingly enough, on my computer the black lines appeared on the right and bottom sides of the canvas, not top left. And when I set the Anti-Alias Size and Super Sample to 1, the lines vanished.

Maybe it depends on the number of layers, or maybe it depends if the material has Color Bump in it?

Anyway, glad you found a solution, albeit a laborous one.

Back again :)- thanks for the welcome.

I’ve been playing around with “my” method today and found that it works, at least for me. I now have the most hideous desktop made up from 4 layers and several materials - but no seams

This method of copying the screen and then grabbing the middle (which would also include shadows correctly ?) - could this be automated with a script ?

Sorry people - I should of stuck to lurking.

I just found out that what I was doing only worked if there was no shadows turned on - as soon as you go to best render with shadows on then back come the seams.

Hi Alan
I bellieve that you can make a script for these sort of things
Zbrush is a little marvel

yes skaven252, i was also surpised it does not work. but i do have strong color bump, and most of the time render exactely with this antialias settings. i tried out the others too, just to check if you made perhaps a typo in your tip. anyway, now its a few more clicks, but its ok for me.

alan, yes i do shadows  but any help is always appreciated, i find this wonderful if everybody tries to help. this is what is so great here on zbc.

This is my first try at a script so no laughing.
It is very limited - only for 256x256 textures but it appears to work with shadows/different textures.
All it does is automate kokoros method but then rbgmz the middle 256x256 portion of the screen ready to be exported from the texture palette.

To use it I set up a new document 256x256.
Draw away
Merge all layers
set up my render settings
press play
export the grabbed texture.

If this works then it would be a simple (?)task to add extra buttons for different texture sizes.

(edit)
Just been playing some more with this and found that when the script merges the layers it also turns off best render so I loose the shadows - is there a way to keep best render turned on when layers are merged ?

(edit)
I have altered the script very slightly so it “presses the best render button” just before the mrgbz grab.

Has anyone managed to check these out ? I was thinking of adding several buttons (128,256,512,1024 for texturing directx models) would anyone need other sizes or is there a way to find the canvas size and just use that ?
Many thanks
Alan

Hi Alan
In add your bouttons
You can just make a window text where user input their personnal sizes desire
