How can I un-divide?

chwaga

how about this. can you give me that tool so I can play and do some tests on my end and maybe I will come up with the answers. It may be easier this way. Let me know.

Paul

It’s attached. All your guys’s help is greatly appreciated!!

[edit] gimme a sec, gotta upload it on my site, here it is

any ideas???

…anyone?? This is really holding me back!!

I was able to build new topology over your model using the topology tools in ZBrush and project the detail onto the new mesh just fine. I don’t have time to rebuild the whole mesh. Do you also have the the rebuilt mesh you did that you are trying to capture the detail onto?

Let me know I will see if I can get the detail of this mesh onto the new mesh. That is what you are still trying to do right?

OK, thanks! I’ll go retopo him, is there an email address I can send it to?

this guy is proving impossible to retopo…the head is just too complex to even get the camera around, tentacles, four eyes, and a mouth…what a nightmare. Any tips on getting this flow to work? I just wanna remove half of the edge loops on the head and it should be fine, otherwise, it’s only 5k polys, so it’s not too heavy to be realtime…

You could watch a video on DID YOU KNOW THAT thread that shows how to edit your current topo quickly.

Try that to get rid of your edge loops.

I already knew that, but ok, I’ll have another go at it today. How DID you get the detail back, by the way?

you have to turn projection on. It’s below topology.

I tried that and it still gets messed up, and my normals ARE in the right direction.

OK, I’ve got my topology set up in a .obj file. I tried importing that, taking a zsphere, putting my hi-res model with bad topo on rigging, and my new topology low-res model into select topo. I then turned on projection and made an adaptive skin on a high resolution. I got verts going EVERYWHERE. My normal are facing the right direction too. Can you project the detail if I give you the two models? However you did it seemed to work, are there any special settings I need?

/sniff?

I am on a family emergency right now, but I think the best results would be using the ZProject brush if that is not working.
