Heath Ledger / The Joker

Awesome job…amazing work !

Yours shows great technique, but I am starting to get sick of joker sculpts to be honest. OOH, HE OVERDOSED AND DIED, I don’t see the part we are supposed to feel bad about. Or the part that makes us want to honour him with awards and sculptures and stuff. He was a stupid person who brought it upon himself.

/Rant

Sorry about that, but as I said, I love your sculpting style, but the top row is becoming riddled with Jokers…

by riddled do you mean two? The last one being posted six months ago? There are many more terminators, incredible hulks, and wolverines for you to spend your time complaining about rather than this awesome sculpt.

Also- It seems you have a personal issue with this whole heath ledger thing. I might suggest relaxing a bit… you’re throwing your own views out there and juxtaposing them onto others. People are sculpting the joker because it was an awesome performance and the character is very compelling. Do people sculpt the Hulk because he overdosed and died? Or do you think that all of the people in the world are sculpting ogres and trolls to honor them? go get some fresh air man, you’re taking these things way too seriously.

I really like the hair. With just a few planes and really rextured.

Hey, I guess you kind of missed the point of what I said.
I’m saying that if the average person saw Heath in the Movie and DIDN’T know he died, they would probably be like “Hmm… Good, but anyone could have done the same”, but because he is surrounded by such tragedy, he is brought up hundreds of notches into this amazing actor. It seems like the sculpts are ATLEAST lightly influenced by his death, and I just don’t see the appeal nor tragedy.
I am calm, I just think he doesn’t deserve such respect.
sorry for seeming wound-up, I wasn’t.

(Also, not all the Hulks go for the realist approach like all of the jokers have, and all have included a version without makeup… so they are sculpting Heath AND the joker. Most people who sculpt the hulk or wolverine switch it up a bit… A joker based on the comic book one would be cool and refreshing, is all.)

wow!

Simply amazing. Got a serious knack there.
Do you think you could enlighten us as to how you got the skin (without makeup). I’ve been working on a skin formula for a while.

Amazing work man,… love it. My only crit from looking at the wireframe on your site is the edgeloops on the neck. It is better to have them straight across if he twists his neck. Other than that, simply amazing.

What the…???
It’s really a Wow man!!! :grimacing:
Damn nice…
I love the skin shader

Hi, Joopson

“Hmm… Good, but anyone could have done the same”, but because he is surrounded by such tragedy, he is brought up hundreds of notches into this amazing actor. It seems like the sculpts are ATLEAST lightly influenced by his death, and I just don’t see the appeal nor tragedy.

I don´t think the death of Ledger has nothing to do with the appeal of this work. I REALLY don´t believe that. if Ledger where alive, this work still would be awesome. The Joker was a great movie character and it was masterfully translated to 3D.
just my 0.2 cents.

would you believe it when i was watching batman, i was thinking “I wanna see max model heath…” you didn’t disappoint… haha…

it’s great to see your work again, and it looks like him, no doubt about it…

I do not really have the eyes like yours… but i just want to point out what i feel when i saw this… I have like really really slow internet connection in malaysia…

so when the picture was loading from top to bottom… at the top… I didn’t feel like it was the joker… feels like your forehead is a tad too long, or a tad too slim…

and when it reach the eyes… i felt like the eyes feel like a tad sagged…I think the outer corner of the upper eyelid sagged, and made him look a bit older than he was at the movie…

however, that’s just me… maybe it’s the camera angle or focal length playing tricks on my eyes… you have inch perfect modeling from mid to bottom of the head… perfect jaws and lips…

once again, it’s awesome work…

just awesome man…i have followed this thread for a bit and the progress is really good! I have tried and I nd didnt get near as close(well, I didnt try…buy hey…and sorry for the interruption of nice pictures posted:cry:)
Keep up the inspiring work! This is why we have legends!!

Very realistic. It really looks amazing. As previously said the hair is amazing. I hope to be even close to as good as you some day. Truly a work of art!

Really nice work!!:D5*

This is some of the best real world modeling I’ve seen. Usually you can see a little something that the human eye just says this isn’t quite right, not quite real. But you hit this spot on and the only reason you know it’s not a photo is because, well, it’s here on zbrushcentral. Simply amazing work! And the hair is incredible. :+1:

Very good model! You should do a comic book version of the joker as well  Haven’t seen too many of those around here

The final render gave me chills! Congrats on making top row!

Oh and I love the comic book Joker, great sculpt!

Best likeness I’ve seen in a long time! Very convincing!

wow… the likeness is amazing. Even in the basic sculpt I can look at it and see Ledger. A good tribute to him as well, am I right?
:+1:

how do you (and those who do sculpts like this as well) go about getting a likeness like this so close to the actor?

Intense photo study? Simple reference images? did you build in max or another program first or do it all straight in Zbrush?

all I can say is that I’m not half as good at replicating something like this and hope I can be someday. Great job!

Nice work, that portrait of the late Heath Ledger as the Joker is amazing, its one of the best I’ve seen on here.
