PAYNE - gimme HairFX
ok…added chains and fix small details… what do you think now?
And…what if we’ll change the roles?
definitely like the hands… makes it look like a first person shooter from a zombie’s perspective. you should look into changing her hair though. other than that, nice progress…

Aaaaaarghhhhhhh… Why everyone but me dislike hair?
strannik, i think the hair is the only weak part of the whole piece. and if everyone tells you that, it usually is true. so don’t take it to heart, but try and make it better… by the way, are you only using zbrush? if you have maya unlimited, shag hair is fantastic for making hair. the fiber brush in z is a bit limited in my opinion.
and just another small thing, i’d add a tiny bit more of light on the hands. but they’re just fine the way they are.
take care,
dado
I know that you’re right I’m not angry or smth.
I’m using 3DS Max for scene, render and “hairs”. I’m tryin to fix’em NOW
Thank you!
Ok…another hair test…maybe you know some good tutorial for it?
Its looking really good now
the hair still needs work, i dont think its falling straight down which makes it look odd, but i like it, it reminds me of the ring
the hair is looking better… but still not up to the rest of the scene’s quality. i think the closest comparison i can think of is that your hair looks a bit like black yarn… kinda like one of those cabbage patch dolls. the strands are way too thick and uniform… i could understand if the hair was dirty and wet and clumped together, but even then a) the materials are off and b) the clumps would be different sizes. if you’re using max, i would suggest checking out the shag hair plugin… it produces some nice results when used properly. other than the hair though, this has really come a long way! im always happy to see things go from ‘just another work in progress’ to actually nearing completion into a composition!
10x for the comments…yes, I have ShagHair…now trying to get the result…
Main problem with the hair is the pose, thickness and length.
Being female myself I have very long hair. (below my shoulder blades)
The way your hair drapes right in front of the face usualy can only happen with the head tilted forward. Because of the curve of the forehead hair naturaly falls to the sides of the face when it is that long and you are standing erect. The simple weight of it usualy makes it slide to either side of the face.
Some women with realy heavy hair, their bangs do this giving their bangs a part that looks like an upsidown v on their forehead. While other women with very light hair (baby fine) their hair stays on the forehead because the weight of it dosnt cause it to part.
Point is. You hair is way to long to drape that way, and way too thick. Try giving her a bit more of a part in the front, or inclining her head more.
THank you!
