Indeed, I absolutely love his work. Especially his screaming pope paintings from the 50’s. I have here an update. As Mikeporetti suggested I thinned out the legs a bit. This meant redoing my UVs to avoid stretching. Unfortunately, whenever I tried importing the new UV mesh to my old one Zbrush kept crashing on me… so I had to resculpt it from scratch. On the bright side, I got to fix a few other things I saw wrong with the original like veedubb said. I dunno if you all can notice the difference but I hope you like. I actually want the skin to have an almost doll-like quality but an old dirty broken doll. Kinda adds to the disturbing vibe I want. Its kind of supposed to be a physical manifestation of guilt/sin probably two-facedness, deciet. The idea I had was the top mouth never opens, it just kind of twitches and swivels with a slight smile. the lower chest mouth is constantly screaming in pain. DEEELIGHTFUL

I have some new renders. I recently learned about attaching an image to your render camera as well as figuring out how to render with raytrace shadows. I’m sure these things are common basic knowledge to you all but since I’m self taught I’m learning these things as I go. I do have a question tho, is it possible to do a blur on the tile platform he/she is standing on? More specifically, to blur the edge of the platform and have the blur gradually go away as it comes towards the creature? I hope this makes sense.
The effect I think you are trying to achieve is called depth of field. I dont know what 3D application you are rendering in, but if you are using Maya, select your camera and open up the attributes. You’ll find a tab called Depth of Field. From there, just play with the settings till you get the effect you want. I have a video from Gnomon on a more accurate way of calculating the distance & blur, but it seemed kinda complicated. I think its one of the mental ray training DVDs. Im sure you can find plenty of info out there on DOF though.
As for you having to redo your model, I had a similar problem with one I’m working on. The problem seemed to be my normals getting flipped upon importing and exporting back and forth between ZBrush and Maya, although that doesnt seem relevant at the point you are at.
By the way, Ive been following this thread for a while, and I like the grungyness of your model. Its got a Silent Hill feel to it. Cant wait for the final image.
hey there, I’m Dante from Valtiel’s Silent Hill Fangame forum! found you here too, eh ^^.
I’d really like to see this creature in the fangame!
