In reference i found that a lot of the stamps are uneven on tags. i did a lot of referencing and reading up on dog tags and actual AF tags. and i saved a bunch of images. i wanted that stamped in look and in real life i saw some that were pretty wacky

in this case i made the alpha i think mostly in PS (i tried many dif methods for this whole thing… oyyyeee…) then i used like Drag Rec with like a normal brush with some RF whatever… And when i first saw that it wasn’t as deep etc… around the edges. and not even all that nice i totaly OCD’d out. i wigged out and tried to fight it… then i realized, why? this is much more natural. It looks like a rough cut pumped out tag. So i stopped fighting it and just went with it :). So yeah that was just a result of the brush/RF and my (wack) alpha.

Haha yea, know the feeling when you spend ages on an alpha and in the end it wont do what you told it to do. Cool that it worked out in the end. The result is very realistic :slight_smile:

freackin’ awesome piece. One of the best CG character I’ve seen lately. I’m personnaly focusing on my rendering/lighting skills atm and I’m wondering if you could explain a bit how you reach this quality in your final renders. Are you using mental ray/vray render? If so, what kind of setup are you using? What kind of lights, maybe, etc.

3ds Max scanline. Key light, Fill light, Skylight, and a set of rims… some lights coming up from the floor a bit too.

Fresnel fall off on quite a few things.

I’m always trying to learn new stuff too… i have a game dev. background so that area is tough for me. I’m always struggling to figure stuff out. I’d like to do a full on Mental Ray piece some time. I’m learning more in that…

Awesome! One of my favorite characters in Street Fighter. Loved how he moved in the game too. I think you captured him perfectly and the dogtag with Charlie name is a really nice touch.

Is he rigged? And are you planning on making a real time version of him?

WOW. …I am blown away :grimacing: … Now when is Streetfighter going to have this Guile?? Just Kidding… but this is one of the best 3d interpritations I’ve seen of a 2d game character. Please feel free to great the rest of them. :grimacing:

My only crit is that the deltoid at the back seems to cut in far too deeply, apart from that everything is great :slight_smile:
