golden axe

Thanks people! I´ll update it very soon with the final version and final leather´s textures.

I´m using Vray, since I know this engine very well, but I had to learn how to use the new SSS material. The skin shader of mental ray is still better for me, more intuitive and easy in general, and realistic! but this shader of vray is not bad, I hope to see a great skin shader in the future made by some artist  but my decision of using vray is because the metals, I really love how Vray render the materials like chrome, metals and leather. Also it render perfectly the layers for postproduction. And we can´t forget the fantastic displacement with vray. the whole character has displacement maps for ultradetails in every piece.

the next step is gonna be to make a little cloth for the legs, and later to make the shaders for the dragon and new textures for the chair of the dragon and other stuffs. Don´t forget that my intention is to make a little animation

Quite finished version and by the way the pose is because I think it is the best posing to be placed over the dragon.

Render.

Looks Great man:+1:

nice…looking forward for the final image…any chance we can see the texture maps and shadersettings for the helmet…it would be sooo cool?

That guy’s got a strange base postion:D But seriously this looks great, the textures are very nice. And the dinosaur is awesome.
Continue the good work:+1:

the shader is a mix between 2 materials, one with a blurred reflection and other with a more sharped reflection. I cannot explain it better, but I made some screens if it helps.

About the pose, it is the better pose I think for the position that he is gonna have over the dragon, so I made this position because this (like riding in a horse)

Have to comment again… blown away by the chain mail on the arm. How did you make that chain array in Zbrush? Which tools did you use?

:+1: :+1:

wow thanks man… :+1:

wow thx!
could u tell me how u setup the skin?i know its a big secret or something:) , and you use 2 lights?

EricShawn - for the chain I use “skin wrap modifier” to attach a chain that I made in 3dsmax to a plane, I use “cloth modifier” to put the plane over the horizontal arm, after that the chain took the form of the arm. Later I made a little changes in the plane to relax it and get a perfect shape, then the chain was perfect and I added some other rings for the chaos effect.

O/MI - welcome dude

everybody thanks for all your comments

HUN-Firebat - every texture is 2k resolution, so it is perfect to extract a good displacement map in zbrush and a bump map for pores. I made different colors of the skin just like in the SSS shader of mental ray and I did a lot of testing during 2 or 3 days. I have HDRI and 2 lights in the scene, one a bit yellow and the other blue. The HDRI is for the reflections and to make the skin more alive adding color from the inside of the mesh.

It is important to have a big “scale” (I have 5000) in "general parameters of the VRayFastSSS2, and a little prepass blur (I have 0,2) in “options”.

Also don´t forget to add specular maps for specular amount, gloss, etc…

I hope it helps you.

Thank you! I will check these options.thx!

Ultimate sculpting work! I love it.

and here the dragon with the chair rendered in Vray.

Looking Great! Cant wait to see more of this finished!

Love the texturing and detailing of the dragon! looking forward to see more

Here is a quite finished render. But I still want to make some other things for the scenary! As you can see I added some little details to the dragon, and the weapon of the enemy.
Everything have displacement, and the render is made in max and after with photoshop using layers of light, color, reflect, etc…
