to you know anything teach me t create like this basemesh
I just submitted a free Ztool of a male with polygroups and UVs laid out. Download and enjoy!
thanks i will but iwant to learn how to make and model my own basemesh
Then i would get a gnomon dvd on character creation for games, or search the internet for some videos on Veoh.com there are more than enough vid tuts on basemesh creation.
Yeah, and really, basemeshes are usually made in other software, you can use zspheres or zsketch but you really get much more control with a more complete package. I’m a maya guy but if price is an issue then there is always Blender. I have a friend who uses Blender. I think the UI is tough to get used to but it’s free and is actually a very powerful piece of software, especially for something that is free. Anyway, good luck, it’s always so exciting when you are starting out!
i like the alien’s face. you’re showing signs of progress.
that basemesh you posted is similar to fabricio torres’ base for the hulk. i prefer it when you don’t have to retopologize later on, but it’s all preference. maybe download Danconia’s and build one based on that, it’s good practice.
you got the drive man and that’s all you need. really push yourself to carry out one full piece like people are saying though. just keep it steady
Hey man, nice work going on, the alien face is great, could be a really funny character haha Try sharpening some of the lines with the DamStandard or the Pinch brush.
For the base mesh: for me the basic idea is to put in the basic proportions and planes, try to keep everything 4 sided, try to match the big forms in the concept and don’t put in to much detail, that will be done in zbrush anyways.
For example if your character’s got jeans. Look at the concept, start with a box, add some edgeloops and match the basic forms of the concept ie. where it starts, ends, where the crotch area is etc etc. same goes for other parts. After that I’ll devide it in zbrush and start moving around the polies to match some of the curves a bit more, then on to more detail.
So yeah, keep it basic, but usefull. Try not to get too specific, unless the concept asks for it, hope that helps
thanks guys for your help
I read that you are searching for some good books
Check out this thread from a very talented artist. There are a lot of fantastic anatomy works in this thread.
