Goblin in a Jade Goblet (Update 4/26/2003 - 121 Welcome)

Thank you!! I’ve had a lot of fun making goblets today and learned quite a bit. Much appreciated.

Arleen

I really really like the coins. Fun Image! :+1:

Cute little guy! I love the goblet too, very nice texture and markings. The gold coins are pretty neat as well. Overall really cool pic!

This is five minute study.
inspired from Winged0ne Goblet.TXT.
Modered in SweepProfile3D and Sphere3D.

Here’s the latest update, I added some more details to the goblin such as a little more color variation and a few wrinkles here and there as well as some additional background detail.

As always, 121 welcome.

WOW!! That looks great! Even better! The only thing I would change is mabye blur the edge of his nose so it looks like its attached to his face, but other then that it awesome! :+1:

Now I know why my Wine bill is so high everytime I eat out!! Those eyes are just a beggin for a pokin!

Hi, Pigma.

Here’s a link to a thread relevant to your question about the goblin skin material:
http://www.pixolator.com/zbc-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=1&t=010026&p=

On page 5 of that thread is a tri-shader and quad-shader material that pixolator made that you can download from there.

Also, here’s the modified tri-shader material that I used for my goblin.

Especially check out the settings I used for the diffuse graph for each channel as well as the colorize diffuse settings I used for channels S2 and S3.

Also these types of materials look best when soft shadow rendering is used.

Thank you very much, Wingedone.
My problem was solved by your favor. :+1:
Please make a wonderful work from now on. :+1: :+1:
I also do my best. :+1:

Hi WingedOne,

I loaded up your goblin skin material and was instantly/temporarily blinded. I then realized to turn down ambience after loading other materials and staring at the thumbnail a little bit, but it still seems too bright and blazed… The diffuse settings are not taking their intended effect I’m afraid. (Or one of the channels isn’t loaded, I don’t know for reference where the warmer color should go is instead a whitish gray.)

Are there some independant settings we should use?

For the object that uses that material, I painted a flesh-colored tone on the object which is independent of the material.

Also, did you use soft-shadow rendering? Without shadows this type of material comes out very bright. Also, the ambient light settings were set to zero in the lighting pallette for my image.

Maybe that’ll help.

WO, The update is awesome! I really liked the first posting of this pic, but you have given us a fantastic update! :+1: :+1: It is just a fun pic to look at, and quite inspiring!

What a fun character! Looking at this image is pure joy WO!

Yes, thanks for the tips and the great plastic type skin material WingedOne, I think after playing with the lights it made a huge difference in renders. Amazing, I didn’t think turning on soft shadows and increasing rays to 152 would make such a big difference. I’ve also learned something new.

This one I can’t stop looking at!! He’s so cute!
