Beautiful art!
You say you use 3dsmax for rendering. I would absolutely love to see you put together some kind of breakdown of your basic process for this. I know a lot of people get pretty overwhelmed when they try dive into mental ray, the SSS fast skin material, displacement, and render settings. You seem to have a solid, reproducible process. Lay it down for us, man!

thanks guys really appreciate the comments
hey dustin, I wish i had some valuable info to give you, but my process is very simple.
I use vray, and I dont use any fancy shaders or anything, in fact i just use standard shaders.
Heres a screen of the setup
[]
I use one vray light, just to get that north facing light effect. I also put in a background just to get the light to bounce. I then turn on irradiance map and put the preset to medium and hit render.
Now keep in mind I do post in photoshop, and without it the renders look very plain and digital.
try playing around with the exposure that could give you some nice effects, and just expirement with different tools, sometime I might not be happy with something, and then I play around with curves and the all of a sudden the image has something interesting to look at.
Hope that helps, lemme know

!
the manhunter is stunning, and your superman is blowing my mind! I would love to see your take on the whole JLA.
haha, what the H.E. double hockey sticks did you do to his feet?
Actually yeah, I just discovered the other night that messing around with the exposure settings in max makes a huge difference. I use mentalray instead of vray, but same difference essentially. If you ever feel like giving yourself a headache you should dive in to the skin shaders. Iāve been mucking about with them in my free time for a few weeks and Iām finally starting to wrap my brain around what all of the settings do. Thanks for the screen grab, man.
