Great sketchbook!
Love your work!
This is a piece I`ve been working on my spare time.
These are very nice but really have nothing to do with this forum.
That sculpture on the right feels a bit fake but the one on the left looks very real!
Nah … just kidding ;), awesome work!
Must be great to actually sculpt for real and with such a result!
Glad to find you on here!
Your work is really good man, keep it up
Awesome work dude, great work on the last sculpture, feels very natural.
who care what you work in - this is a great sculpt!
This last one is perfect dude!!! Congrats!
This is absolutely amazing sculpt, I wish there was more of this stuff on the forum!
Actually they have lots to do with this forum. The same techniques can be used for digital sculpting, they both go hand in hand.
I do both digital and traditional sculpture. Here is an excellent traditional sculpture forum I’ve followed for many years:http://www.theeffectslab.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=3&sid=81f200a39cadf5b192e3c9a58158e1e7
As I do both, I would instantly agree there is much in common between digital and traditional sculpture, especially in areas like anatomy, overall form and mood, which is common to all representational art. However, there are also tremendous process and technical differences. There is much in common between a Zbrush model and an XSI model but it wouldn’t be appropriate to show pieces on this forum done entirely in a different program, at least not in abundance.
I would also feel the same way about a stone carver showing his sculptures here, however amazing they are.
Maybe I’m way too uptight. This is just my opinion
I come here to see the Phenomenal work done with Zbrush – a n incredible amd ground breaking art medium with both commercial and fine arts applications. The program is constantly expanding and the way artists explore it’s possibilities is always a tremendous inspiration to my own development.
Mr. Longhi’s traditional sculptures are marvelous, but just because they are marvelous doesn’t mean they belong on the ZBrush central main forum. My opinion.
For traditional, fantasy sculpts I go to the Effects Lab. Check it out. Great stuff.
Thanks for the kind words guys. I appreciate it.
Well, Tristan, I’m sorry to disturb you posting my traditional sculptures here.
I’ve created this thread to use like a diary of my personal studies.
If you just go over it, there are tons of zbrush and ps work.
If there are more people bothered about my thread, I wouldn’t mind of deleting the traditional stuff at all.
I completely understand your point of just seeing digital/zbrush stuff but I really enjoy threads that have more than that, and I think others do too.
There are a lot of them , showing 2d sketchs, sculptures, and etc
Im here to receive critics and learn from you all.
Have fun! That’s what it’s all about man!
Is there anyone here attending Massive’s black next week?
Im flying to LA this evening.
my best.
Glauco, please let me be clear. I think your work is tremendous – both the digital and traditional, and I enjoy seeing all of it. I am not bothered by your traditional works. Like you I work in both mediums. For me, this forum is specific to Zbrush and the serious associated workflows, Ie., Zbrush to Maya, Zbrush to Photoshop, etc. I never show any of my other works here, but that is just me.
For me, Traditional sculpture demonstrates the ability of the artist but doesn’t contribute to the development of Zbrush as an art medium and while I can marvel at your technique, I feel that showing it here doesn’t correspond to the purpose of this site. at least as I see it. That said, I enjoy when artists occasionally supplement their postings with images from other mediums, including digital. It just seemed to me that with repeat postings of traditional sculpture, the focus of this forum disappeared.
There are other forums online like Deviantart or CGHub (despite it’s title) which are showcases for all things 2D and 3D and they are great forums I frequent. There are other forums dedicated to all things digital --CGTalk or 3DTotal.
This forum, for me is dedicated to a specific medium and is both a venue for artists to demonstrate their abilities with Zbrush and also for artists to learn from eachother how to improve on their own Zbrush skills. I just don’t want that to change.
Maybe I’m too much of a stickler and the last thing I would want you to take away from my comments was any sort of criticism of your excellent work and tremendous versatility.
Whether or not anyone agrees with my point of view about this forum or not, I just want to make sure my intention is not misinterpreted. You are a very talented artist and I consider you a peer and I would never say or do anything to denigrate your accomplishments. I would just prefer this forum to stay focused on Zbrush work so we can continue to participate in it’s and our own artist development.

Excellent works, as always. Please keep posting your traditional artworks, they are very inspiring.
