nope just standard max scanline, theres nothing fancy about rendering of this dudeman at all, i have a total of 4 omnis in the scene, no advanced lighting, no gi or anything, basically this is what it would look like in a game. actually it would look even better in a next gen engine with environment maps, SSS, HDR and particles.
Ive liked this one from the moment you first posted it on polycounts general side. Makes me feel a bit beter about missing the deadline =) I and another worked on a piece for cgchat side.

Very very solid game art rawkstar. Hope to see more from you in the future.
I do have a question though. I’ve been trying for at least a year to get normal maps to render in 3dsmax and have had no luck. I’ve tried every technique I’ve seen posted off multiple websites, and the closest thing I could acheive was using displacement maps instead.
Other than that, I could only get the normal maps to show up with using DirectX9 viewport materials (HLSL shaders), but that doesn’t apply to rendering, just previewing in viewport. How in the world did you get this to render, let alone apply the normal maps in Max? Is this something new in 3dsmax 8? I’ve been using version 7. If it’s something you dont want to post about, PM works fine. Thanks; and again, superior work man. =)
