Love these strange, little creatures. Immense imagination.
maciej - i wish it would be my imagination^^ check out markus lovadina’s (malo) sketchbook on 3dtotal, really impressive stuff he got there! http://forums.3dtotal.com/showthread.php?t=85804&page=43

Yes, yes … go Balin go…
Very cool. I love this race. Strong and directly and with both legs on the ground.
I look forward to the final result.
Cheers,
TM
the dwarf anatomy looks really good. cool character.
i really dislike the canned hex alpha on the armor. research scale armor and make yer own alpha (or better yet insert mesh). scales will not end half way just because you’ve come down to the hem or a sleeve junction. They are metal plates, so you’ll either have a whole scale or or no scale. the distortion of the current hexs going around the form doesn’t make sense either. hope this helps.
Hey Fynn,
I really like your Thark sculpt. I recognized him from the John Carter movie. Well done my friend!

@tribunmaximus
thanks glad you like him i’m a huge fan of dwarfs as well^^
@magbhitu thanks for the crit
it’s supposed to look like cloth but i think i failed with it^^ i haven’t found another alpha so i used this
@3dds
thank you it was really fun sculpting the thark
if you are interested in the sculpting timelapses check out my channel --> http://www.youtube.com/FynnGB
i discovered polypainting for me
i always used too saturated colours and i wasn’t satisfied with the result at all especially because i have painted warhammer figures for 7 years and i was (and hopefully still am) not that bad at it but i think i will texture every new model from now on
not much but here is a test with my dwarf
hope you like it
another sculpt of one of markus lovadina’s sketches
you can find his sketchbook here: http://forums.3dtotal.com/showthread.php?t=85804&page=43
making of/turntable:
hope you like it
you really captured that drawling
thanks magbhitu
i need some critis on the cloth before i move on with it
does it look more convincing? (the polypaint is just a test)
Haha, looking great, like the style!
thanks santis
just started to work on an old sculpt again
hope you like it (and please give some crits about the dwarf’s cloth!)
cloth - that looks way too labor intensive. make a tileable alpha and use the surface uvw feature to apply…
as far as the design goes it does look way better. none will mistake it for byzainted armor anymore. making each hexagon from a separate piece of cloth and stitching it together seems very labor intensive in real life also though. is there a compelling reason why dwarves would make this kind of cloth? scarcity of material maybe? i’m not really voting against it - just asking the question. how does that contribute to the character? maybe make it very hodge-podge - like each hex a different color like it’s been pieced together out of scrapes. The custom of making real life quilts started the same way - you need a blanket but you’re too poor to buy one so you make do with what you have.
i think you should do some research into medieval clothing. a type of quilted jacket or under-armor called a gambeson might be a good place to start. a lot of great authentic style clothing shows up in the Witcher games also.
Great models and images and love the shrimp.
thanks guys much appreciate it
i thought because of the long lifespan of dwarfs that they would produce such extensive clothes
do you know a good alpha library besides the one from pixologic?
