First Try of Zbrush

Thank you very much!
it’s really good to read your lines… It gives me lot of motivation.

I’m still a beginner and a learner. So your advices and threads here are very usefull even if I’m lost quite quickly!

erikshawn> yep, really it’s my first. I like to draw even if I can’t do it as often as before but maybe it is helping now with zbrush. thanks for your words.

digital_3d> I wanted to explore a skinny man, quite a challenge for me because I still drawing big dude! And yes, Alien is maybe my favorite monster… so somehow, it might be in a corner of my head…

Jonesky, Tezzy and Rynomyte> thank you guys. And rynomyte, you were the first one to review and comment it. Thanks for beeing my first, and on top of that, positive comment.

And I’m looking for teeth ztl and eyes too.
Anyone can help or tell me where I can find this?
Thanks and sorry to ask…

ok apparently my first response was squeezed!

I FIRST said : thank you everyone, it’s really motivating.

EricShawn> thanks for the comments. Yep it’s really my first one. Stilla work in progress with lots to be done still but…a good start. I’m a graphic designer, so totally new to 3D. I used to draw a lot so maybe it might help with Zbrush.

Digital 3d> It was quite a challenge for me cause I’m always drawing big muscle dude… But I must admit that Alien is one of my favourite monster so it might be on a corner of my head…

>Rynomyte : thanks for beeing the first one to post a comment and on top of that, a positive one…

Thanks.

looks cool,
really like that stringy look of the skin and muscles:+1:

I love how you have made the ribs poke out, makes it look less human in a way or just a really skinny person. Really good work, much better than me :D:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:

Thanks everyone.
Will try and post new stuff soon.

Some updates on this guy… my first ever try on Zbrush
I’m still learning Zbrush so… I do mistakes too.
Like the one you can see on these pics… Some artefacts in the mesh apparently. The weird thing is that I did a Resym smart and at le low res level, the mesh is great…not at the high one. Don’t know why…

Anyway, I decided to go on just for my practice and will make some other faces on this guy too.

N.B.: HEAD INSPIRED BY an old concept of Jerad S. Marantz.
I found interresting to mix his idea with the body I sculpted first…
C&C welcome of course…

Keep up the good work guys!

kool character,

Thanks!

Hi Sleepyhead !

Very interesting concept! I like your work on his skin, you give him a personality.
Personally, i think sculpting a skinny man is harder than a huge-muscle man, it requires more precision and keeness if you want to be as close as possible to a realistic anatomy. It’s my point of view, and according to what i see, you’re on the right track

Concerning the artefacts, you should try to retopology if it’s not yet done.

Keep it going ! Just can’t wait to see the final result

Thanks for the comment and advices.
i will try and fix the bug and retoplogise it…as soon as I will understand how to do that!..

Yeah i hate this part of the sculpting, and i’m not a pro neither
It’s the downside of zpsheres. The most of the time, you have to retopologise your mesh.

Did you start with a male basemesh? or directly with some zspheres?

Bye

I started with a male basemesh.
I know where I made the mistake. It’s when I appened the body to make a new subtool for the eyes. The thing is when I scaled and moved, I was on the wrong subtool (the body intead of the eyes). So when I realised it, it was quite too late. I make some changes to fix but…

The strange thing, is that at the low res, it doesn’t appear, and that I made a smart resym too… But still, this bug…

Anyway, it’s a WIP to learn so…
Better results with others models next time.

god i hate retopo too, PIXOLOGIC PLEASE INVENT THE VERY FIRST AUTO RETOPO TOOL!!!
where is the smart resym button? i transposed my mesh, but my x symetry is off now… pls help

In Deformation>Smart Resym button
First you have to make a mask of the good part of your mesh (half the body for example, an then click on this button).

should i do this masking before i transpose it, or after

Bascically it will make a symetry. So before or after the transpose, I would say it only depends of what you want to have as final results… a perfect symetry or not…

I meant, i transposed my sculpt, and then I want to continue symmetry sculpting on the arms, so I should mask one side, and hit deform\smart resym, so now even though my right arm is up and left arm is swung back, I can still work on one of the arms and symmetry sculpting will apply to the other on the same areas correct???

oh nope
The smart resym is just to correct something and make a symetry based on the good part of the model… Like a mirror if you prefer.
Once you’ve transposed the model, well the symetry can’t work… because it’s based on the coordonates of the mouse… It doesn’t take the body part or area you’re working on, into consideration…

so im doomed HAHAHA
