First steps

I have to say i also like the hands and the polypainting on the legs also isnt so bad. Let me know when you have something new from zbrush or maya

Yea…hopefully in about 2 weeks or so I will have something to start my own sketchbook with

I am looking forward to it.

I recently had problems with my computer so I didnt really made much progress. This is just little something i did - a little worm-like creature.

update

Hey man!

You reminded me that I should update my sketchbook as well

Anyway… What I wanted to tell you… I think it lacks a good structure in some areas and this makes the design and creature to fade in some areas… Like… I don’t see that hierarchy in forms that you can see other sculptors speaking about. You know… The first pass of details in which you represent the major forms, second pass in which you refine the big shapes and define the relevant shapes that live inside the big ones and than the third pass which are the high-frequency details which are the least important and should come last, only when you have a properly established structure.
Let me see if I find something: http://vimeo.com/45706238 This is Danny Williams, artist who works at DreamWorks (worked at BlueSky and ArenaNEt). He is, and will still be for another week, my teacher at visualarium. He showed us this video and I think you can see very well what it means to focus on primary forms first and make sure that they work before getting into the secondary pass.
Have a look at it and let me know what you think. If you’re interested I can point you towards other videos and artists from which I learned a lot!
Take care mate and enjoy sculpting

Thanks I watched the video and I can see what you mean, I kinda always do this mistake as with the last creature. Sorry that it took so long to reply i dont really have time. I always jump in here to take a look at new sculpts but I completely forgot to take a look at my own thread. Main point of the last creature was me trying a different things, like the top part and such.
