eva-01 test type WIP

very cool work you got here :+1:

Ok I’ll be the nerd that says it. Shinji is eva01’s pilot, not Rei. The good news is that anime males are so effeminate, that it should be an easy conversion

@Dunkel

Hi,
can I ask you wich Renderer you have used? Very nice model. I really love the atmosphere of the rendered one

very great modeling, i want to see the hair, men your work is amazing…keep the good work :+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:

MY DOMINANCE WAR IV - BARATHOR

I hate to be the nerd that fights this statement but i do believe that the core of all dummy plugs in the Eva’s are clones of Rei so by technicallity a Rei in Unit 01 would make sense :stuck_out_tongue: But anyway im just buggin lmao.

Dunkel Unit01 is lookin amazing and i cant wait to see Rei finished!!!

Yes I know!, Rei isn`t the pilot of the eva 01, but model Rei instead shinji was a lot more inspiring… :stuck_out_tongue:

JiggyBeatz, I used mental ray with GI, but without final gather, , the material of the figure was rendered in two pases, one with SSS and one without SSS, and then composed in photoshop.

Cya!

UPDATE!

DOMINANCE WAR IV - BARATHOR

:stuck_out_tongue: yes I know!, but sadly I have other things to do, office work, and other personal proyect…
EVA-01 is third in the list.

ah Ok, one question? you don´t have a web page or a blog or something?, or any place in the internet for us to see your other works :D:D:D

DOMINANCE WAR IV - BARATHOR

looking really cool love the elongated body :D:+1:

Looking sweet, Should just make those details pop, can barely see em.

I’ve been a big fan of Evangelion since it hit the US on VHS. I have the Eva figures around, a groundwork of Evangelion book, I’m actually working on a Misato sculpture myself in 3D Coat now, and of course I’ve got the DVD boxed set. I’ve been watching news on the live action remake for a ling time too.

So of course your awesome sculptures have me excited too. The only thing that kinda bugs me a little bit is that Rei kinda looks like a clean nude figure with a really strong normal map if you get what I mean. The parts of the flight suit that stick out like those things under her breasts or the "back pack" part of it, it's like they're taking on the shape of her body too much and don't have enough shape of their own. I can't find any decent reference images on the web at the moment, but in this one you can even see the green "under breast" things seem to stick out further. [http://inferno.slug.org/jpeg/rei-ayanami-waving.jpg](http://inferno.slug.org/jpeg/rei-ayanami-waving.jpg)

The back pack thing also looks like it has no seam, like it and the suit are all one molded piece of plastic. It’s hard to tell how it’s attached in the anime, but it seems like there should at least me an indentation where it attaches.

Fabulous man!

Top row to me :+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:

very nice work you doing here!

Awesome work ! :+1:
Just curious, what’s the polycount on Eva?

That looks awesome! Incredible amount of detail, great work.

Good day to you sir! I am very impresses with your work first off all, now I have an important question. Or two.
One, the 4th image down, with the two massive cables exposed on his back…how did you create the repetitive pattern???

Second, did you split up the mesh in different polygroups. I am making a concept eva I designed myself, there is much detail. So I need to mesh o be of a substantial polycoun and detail.
I have a 12 gig machine but this doesn’t matter as zbrush still cant use more ram like mudbox can.
Please help!!

thanks!

hello, thanks for the kind words, maybe is time to made a beauty render for this model, I have to fix some proportions issues first, well, I dont have spare time right now .
about your questions:
I model the pattern in 3ds max repeating a simple extruded hexagon, then I proyected the details from the 3ds max mesh into another pipe subtool inside Zbrush using the “proyect all” tool.

I split the model in several subtools, one for the torso, head and arms, other for legs, and other for some details like entryplug cap and “knife holders” this help to handle high polycounts in the diferent pieces of the model, also I exported the base mesh to 3ds max to group diferent parts in polygroups for easy access to dificult areas.

I dont know, how technically zbrush handle memory, but I have the impression that use a lot of ram with large models, the torso of eva-01 have 14.000k polys and while I`am working the ram reach the 7gbs of used ram, maybe zbrush dont have the 4gbs restriccion of other 32bit applications .

hope this help a bit, show us your eva concept! cya!

I hope that you are still currently working on this Dunkel! It’s a wonderful model. When you get finished you should look into sending the model to someone that works for the company.

Also maybe make a blog on this? Even a simple Blogger blog would be awesome.

I’m really hoping to see the finished product. I wish I could do this kind of art myself.
