I really cant find another word…
How can they be so genius!!!
Excellent neat work! I have a question - how do you set apart a snake’s belly from the back? On the back of small scales, large scales on their bellies. How did you do this texture? How did you get such and such a neat division of matching top and bottom?
Nice work.
Hope to see more.
Absolutley beautiful work, I have been a jeweler for 40 years and am new to this 3D CAD software.
May I ask which software you use, I have at present ZBrush and am using it to get a start into this
new deminsion of designing. I have always used a sketch pad or napkin, now we are using iPads,
computers and computerized machines to cut the waxes and even metals…I am totally amazed…
best wishes for your future.
Best Regards,
Bill
Wow, if all this was done with ZBrush, I’m starting to feel more and more like I made the right choice.
I listened to a friend on facebook, he has been using ZBrush and I was impressed so I got it as well.
I am a total newbie, but with my 40 years of wax carving and fabrication of custom fine jewelry, I am
one day to be able to produce items such as above. Primarily, I want the software CAD/CAM to free me
up from the wax bench. Allowing me more time for fabrication and customer relations. This gives me
more inspiration and confidence in what the software is capable of with the right person pushing the
right buttons, using the right brushes and tools…

Bill
Hi, I have to give my personal compliments for your amazing work! I’m already a while in the jewelry business, but complex pieces like yours are very few around.
I normally use Rhino and studiotools. My doubt to use zbrush was always the idea to have inprecise pieces, and that it is not a jewelry dedicated software (rhino has quite a lot of plugins for this). So I would like to ask you a few questions:
I hope you are willing to reply to my questions.
Thanks a lot and again, amazing work!
Ramon
Dear Ramon,
I have only been working on learning ZBrush, so am not sure how many questions I can answer, but I will try. ZBrush is a 3D software, primary use was animation for movies and 3D Sculpting. A friend of mine made a few round stones and sent them to me. It’s my understanding they can be modeled in ZBrush and saved as either a tool or a brush and inserted into your design.the prongs, beads would as well have to be modeled. ZBrush you can import and export sketches and photos to turn into 3D tools and zbrushes as well. What homepage are you referring too? I have not posted or published anything yet from ZBrush.
I would think you could import and export to and from each, but I am not experienced enough to answer this truthfully. I too wanted Rhino and Rhino-Gold, geared more specifically for the jewelry trade. My learning curve for ZBrush has been slow, but mainly to the time involved. Plus the fact it is primarily for sculpting. I would prefer to work with Rhino and Rhino-Gold. My finances would not purchase Rhino, so I went with the more affordable ZBrush. I can change the measurement for inches to millimeters. My friend is rather good at ZBrush, let me send you a link to him, he could answer your questions for you.
I apologize for taking a long time to get back to you, but, I just got the email today. I hope we can chat again, I will get his link tomorrow for you.
Regards,
Bill

Hello I’m a little confused, you did the Lion and the Key, etc. shown in the post correct? I either saw it here or your website or a previous post. You do have a website, have you posted any of your work in another section of this forum?i understand the length of time that it takes to learn the software and as fast as they companies upgrade it as well. I also, know it takes time to get it ready to go to CAD…I have a friend that makes guitars, several others use the same processes to make other things, car parts, jewelry, tattoo machines, etc…one friend told me he made his machines, so he could see from the beginning to end of a project…this way is probably the way I’ll go too. Getting an understanding of exactly what is being accomplishe as I sculpt in ZBrush. I believe I would learn both ends of the process, this should make it easier for me to learn. What is your thought, because I plan to start building in a couple of weeks. We have a complete machine shop at our disposal, all I will have to purchase is the motors, materials for the rails. I have the computer for the CAM, I will need the box that tells the CAM where to go and where the cutters are. I will probably next year get Rhino and RhinoGold, but I’m hoping to learn enough of ZBrush to make the money to purchase the Rhino software. Well i hope you will give me some feed back as to what your thoughts are. I do all my own concepts and designs, I am mainly using the software to shorten my wax carving duties, address the precision and make each piece that I design as close to perfect as humanly possible. i am only one man and i cant do repairs, design, spend 40, 80, 120+ hours carving waxes and stay in business. i do work for a small store but plan to go back into my own shop within the next year, hopefully. Well respond as time permits, I look forward to your opinion/s.
Best Regards,
Bill

Absolutely gorgeous pieces!
This is great work, I’m a jeweler, can you give me any tips??
Hermosisimo trabajo, very nice work. Your approach and design to pavé is exquisite
Amazing! I’m delighted to see that there are real artist in the jewellery trade. Incredible work they are pieces of art. Keep the good work Jack! and if you are in London one day please give us a call it will be a pleasure to meet you.

I just want to extend on what I said. There is not point to ask jack how he did it because he probably doesn’t have an answer for that. I’m impress of his work but cad is only 30% or less of the whole job. I’m amaze of the design and finishing of the pieces. If you are a jeweller you will understand that to achieve this kind of quality you need to have the right team and the best team behind you. Best mounters and setters. Also probably or for sure it will take months or even more than a year for him to finish one of his pieces! But time is not important when you are doing pieces like this.
Cad is only a small part. The real work starts later!
