Just push the eye spec a bit more, and smooth out some of the strokes and I think you will have one of the best yodas I have seen.
Spectacular.
Damn cool, that is…

Thanks for the great feedback!
Thanks so much Mišo, glad you do
Stefano T80, thank you!
Thank you very much Fernando!
Thank you womball, thanks for the crit, I indeed tried smoothing it out but didn’t like it cause I guess I got used to the roughness by now. About the eye spec you’re absolutely right, I’m still researching the lightcap and some things just won’t go the way I’d like them to. Anyways I’m gonna have to put it all on hold for now, today I got lucky and found some time to work on personal stuff. Hope it stays second best though hehe
Thank you matb63!
Thank Ecthelion you (haha)! Hope to see some new stuff from you
“Here it is, finally, the very first The Red Solstice gameplay trailer ever! Enjoy and spread the word!” http://www.theredsolstice.com/
Not to republish the models I’ve already submitted previously in this sketchbook, I’m uploading the stills from the Trailer displaying Nyx, which I’ve modeled and altered the concept a bit, and Specimen 850 (the beast on the second picture). Additional tweaks and renders are done by Vjeko Koscevic.
Nyx wire. Most of I have buuild from extracts in Zbrush, and then retopo with 3d coat plus additional modeling in 3ds max. Some things didn’t need
to be retopoed cause I’ve afterwards built a low poly for all this high poly details to be projected to.

Great stuff cherub! The game looks great!
only crit i have on the old guy is his hat sits kinda strange on his head…sitting to far up you know?
great stuff as always…you’re constantly improving!
Thank you very much Skinnybonez! Nice catch, I have edited it in my previous post now, the hat is now more on the head, however I want to keep the shilouette and the look so I can’t go further I’m afraid, so he’ll just have to glue it on his skull
awesome stuff!!
Very very nice cherub. I always miss your posts, not the better place to find them.
If you gonna use the BPR engine, go under material menu / environment, shades at ~80 . Then under BPR settings / shadows, rays at~ 40 or more and angle at ~10 . AO on as default.
Avoid using matcaps, they don’t react well. Better construct a one or two nodes shader (in the case of two or more nodes, you have to enter environment shades for every node). Use a light cap, a second as RIM light at ~10-20 energy but use exposure slider at >5 - 10
Here’s a small BPR tutorial LOL. Something that simulates a ray tracer. For better results, rim lights should be exported as multi bass layers in Ps. One light only in zb reacts like a ray tracer, have it in mind.
If you gonna use just the default settings, you get these wrong, pale casted shadows.
Youre rincewind looks great!
Milivoj, Michalis, Yusefkerr, thank you for your kind comments!
Michalis, I’ll give it a try, thank you for yout time and effort, it won’t be in vain. Right now I’m just concerned with sculpting, and I kind of like this kind of Alessandro Eklettica clay renders.
Both Rincewind and Death of Discworld are based and inspired by Paul Kidby’s illustrations, and are a part of my new portfolio pieces based on other people’s concepts.
Luggage.
Always great work! I love the Grim Reaper and the chest with feet! The last one reminds me of a Circus car with fifteen clowns packed inside!
I love them all.
But most of all, this chest scene! small_orange_diamond

Luggage!!! YAY!
Hi Cherub! I’m wondering how you make the cloth have thickness in this piece? Are the thickness only at certain parts? Or carry across the whole model?
Chalkman! Thank you very much, glad you’re enjoying it
Thank you so much Michalis!
Thank you Dustin! Yay!
hey Panupat, the clothes is a dynamesh, started from as sphere as I recall. Then sculpted the outside forms, and then I’ve pushed in the inside formes, adn the thickness is what was left. I will eventually retopo only the outside, adn then put a shell modifier on the lowest subd leve via goZ in 3ds max for the final thickness.
My old work, reposed.
