Del Lower Button

The Delete lower and higher buttons in Zbrush are greyed out. I need to get rid of my subdivision level 1 and I’m not sure how to do it. Here’s a screen shot if you don’t know what I mean…

and yes I’m new to zbrush, and using forums…

Is all of the sub tool visible?

There is only one sub tool and I believe it is visible.

Oh sorry, I got confused.
Anyway, nothing on the sub tool is hidden.

Is there anything else that can disable the “del lower” button?

No idea, but thoughts are part of the tool hidden, part masked (press clear mask) maybe its a DynaMesh, or created from a primitive but make poly tool (or whatever it’s called) was never pressed. Don’t know if any of these would cause it, but just throwing ideas about. Sorry.

nothings hidden or masked
I’m not sure what dynamesh is but that would suggest that I didn’t use it.
It was create from a model in 3ds max, used goZ if I recall.
and I hit the make poly tool or whatever, if I’m thinking of the same button.

I want to use the button to Del level 1 subdivision. Is there another way to do that?

I mainly just want to have goz transfer the model to 3ds max using subdivision level 2. Is there a way to do that without deleting the subdivision level 1?

Clicking the MakePolymesh3d button should create a new object in it’s current state (so if you have it at the highest subdivision level, the new object will only have that level). Then you can reconstruct other levels, leaving out the first.

I’m a little new.
How do I reconstruct levels and would I want to use the MakePolymesh3d on the highest subdivision level or the one I wish to keep(second)?
