deer anatomy

SammehSAMURAI: thanks a lot man. ye! it’s been fun to do, but my next thing will be something completely different. but i’ll sure do more like this in the future.

Doug Jones: no fur on this one… it’s a ecorche, so it’s supposed to look this way.

Francis Bezooyen: thanks for keep giving good crits. the base i won’t touch, because i like it as it is. simple. about the colors, ye! i might tweak it a little, make a bit more pale again. when i see it on a different machine it looks to saturated. so perhaps something in between.
i’ll have another look at the pose and the camera.

Absolutely love your work…such subtle sculpting…a rare thing :+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:

thanks a lot for the kind words.
here is a new take on “final”… hahah
this time, i’m sure it will be kept that way aswell.

looking really nice I would be interested to see your render approach

one crit though I would get a bit of a subtle reflection on the base with it being a flat black colour it is really standing out and distracts from the actual sculpt. Really great work though

I think you should give them a fiber finish! They are outstanding studies. I would love to see what they might look like with fur.

Much improved all-round. Good work:)

Do you think we’ll ever get to see a rotation of them?

love it  i like the subtle rim-light, the darker base, the nice material  congrats, it turned out really great! now it only needs to be printed

Awesome deers Rasmus! I agree with malc2304 the black box really steels the attention.

i kinda liked the wooden base better to be honest. makes the subject look more natural

FYI - I think some people’s comments about the base being too dark may be due to differences in monitor calibration. My monitors at home are not calibration synced. On one of them the base looks just fine, while on another it does indeed look too dark. Your best option short of actually calibrating your monitor might be to look at the render on a variety of monitors (friends, work …) and find a happy medium if you can.

-well i guess this is another “final”… heheh
i tweaked the base after seeing it on a different monitor.

malc2304: thanks a lot. i tweaked the base. hope it shows better now. i also posted a pict of my maya scene setup. -it’s nothing fancy, i guess. i’m pretty new to v-ray, so i’m sure there is plenty of room for improvements. i hope it’s useful, to you anyway.

Captain Cartesian: thanks. glad you think so. -sorry to say, there’s not gonna be any fur on this…

Francis Bezooyen: heheeh… thanks for all the good crits. glad you like it. and ye, there’s surely something about the monitor calibrations too. but i fixed the base, and i think it’s better now. -so all good.
i’ll render a turntable of it, for sure.

dandan: thank you so much. -ye, printing would be cool.
really looking forward for your next sculpt.

-Storm-: thanks frederik. your new characters looks fantastic.

FrederikP: thanks. -it’s back, only darker now… hehe

hope you’ll like it.

I was checking your artwork, great stuff!
the Deer echorche is my favorite.

So cool – the different forms people sculpt w/Zbrush!

Your sculpting technique is good. I like the brush strokes that become part of the artwork.

thanks a lot you two. glad to hear you like it.
i just saw i haven’t put up the “final” pictures of them… -nice going rasmus…
well, here it is. looking forward to see what both of you will be creating.

i’m sorta debating with myself if i should make new clay renders for my personal pieces (atleast some of them), just to keep a red line throughout the portfolio.

Lovely work, really well done. Congrats on a very nice piece of sculpting.

Love the color touches on the final version.

well, here it is. looking forward to see what both of you will be creating.

I mostly watch – and try to learn.

Hi rasmusW,

Great final images. I really like the models!
And thanks for sharing the clay shader setup, the models look great like that.

Very Cool!!! Very nice anatomy too. Thank you for sharing.

So clean and detailed ! Great work !!
