Haha … cute! :+1:

Hi Markus

Luv the look of that critter…Great sculpting there…:+1:small_orange_diamond:)…It reminds me of a critter I saw in some program on tv awhile back…Can’t remember it’s name, but it was a night stalker with huge nocturnal eyes and big bat like ears, lived on the island of Madagascar I think …Had a really long extended first finger I believe, and would use that finger to retrieve grubs from their burrows hidden deep within branches of trees…It had the same kind of look in it’s eyes as the look that you captured in your critter…Just brought that thought up …just in case it may be useful to you…who knows…you might want to create a critter doing an action, and digging that grub out of it’s burrow in the tree branch was an action that came to mind as I was enjoying your piece this morning…
Anyway, Keep up the Great work.:+1:small_orange_diamond:)
Glenn

Thanks Glenn,

I think the creature your thinking of is an Aye aye, actually it was going to be either an Aye aye or a Loris for this one, the Loris won because it had easier looking fur
Yeah maybe the next project should be more posed, these are all really just exercises in different surfaces and trying to do something other than skulls.

Glad your enjoying them, I know I am.
Been enjoying looking through your thread too

Thanks asecbrush

I realised looking at this again I’d forgotten to give him a little head twist, so here it is…

This was my first attempt at a 3D print, Took advantage of the Zbrush 3D print exporter.
Turned out OK just need to add more definition to smaller details next time.

Still find it AMAZING this can be done
Oh and it’s from Shapeways.

I love your little loris (such cool animals) … that would make a wonderful 3D model if it they could do justice to the fine detail, that process is only going to get finer and cheaper … eventually! Cheers, David

What do you want to say with more definition? Looking at your 3D model it has more details than the print. (not a complaint, the print looks awesome)

Looking at shapeway website, they’ve got a ton of different materials, which one did you pick? And is there any paintable one? A material I can paint over I mean.

Thanks and great job!!

Thanks chalkman, I’m sure you’ve seen this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_SNE2MYAotU. Not sure they should have one as a pet though.

LapsusMental - Glad you like him, I used strong white flexible. I’m new to this whole 3D printing business so you’ll probably find better info on painting stuff over on the Shapeways forums.
In terms of the definition I’m saying that if I want smaller details to show up I think they’ll need to be exaggerated in the sculpting process.

Cheers

Great 3d-print!, Is it a massive model, or hollow? And what did you pay for it if I may ask?
I am still thinking of which model to export for a 3d print.

Thanks anigroove It’s hollow, mainly because with Shapeways (and all other 3D printers I assume) you pay by the cubic cm of material used.
In this case it came to around $40 without shipping, though they did have an offer on the Strong White Material if you ordered by New Years Eve.

The parcel came from the Netherlands so maybe the postage will be cheaper for you

Hey Guys,

Been a while since I’ve been able to post anything here. Thought it was about time I started takiing anatomy and pose a bit more seriously.
This was inspired by a small bronze sculpture in the V&A museum, he’s obviously unfinished but all crits are welcome.

Also, can anyone point me to a good reference to muscles in motion / under stress ?

Cheers
