Stunning seems like to small a word. Great work!
this is awesome …more inspirations please
i want to kill this thing so bad haha.
the amount of detail put into every individual skull is awesome.
super cool, and yea the cg trailer was nice. I’m intrigued thats for sure.
Isn’t this the game Joe Mad! is working on?
G.G your work is so nice on Darksiders. Did you sculpt the backgrounds in the game too? Everything is so nicely rendered and has beautifully detailed environments and characters. Did you work on the demon character that gives advice in the E3 demo?
I just saw the jailer boss battle at E3 a few days ago. The Jailer was really cool to finally see this character animated and with sound. His jail cage opens and you have to attack the little green prisoner inside that semi-falls out. So awesome. It must be nice to see your creations come to life!
Keep up the killer work. Can’t wait to see the final game. I will get it for sure!
mokthemagicman – Thanks for the comments, I’m glad you enjoyed the E3 demo. Actually, I didn’t do anything on the environments except for early versions of the Hellgrowth spikes that stick up here and there in some of the levels. I’ll pass your kind comments on to the enviro guys though.
If you’re talking about Vulgrim (tall demon with big horns & scrolls attached to his belt), that was modeled by Diego Maia. The Watcher (blue guy who travels with you through the game) was modeled by Lee Strauss.
I’m glad you got to see the Jailer in the game, animation & sound do add quite a lot.
thanks again!
Haha, I just killed the poor thing
I was actually excited when I saw the cut-scene with him.
Impressive modelling, and it looks awesome in the game, too!
Can’t wait to get my hands on the artbook
haha, cool!
they did a nice job with the art book, hope you enjoy it!
plz we want more !
great job !
Ohh man almost finishing the game its freaking awesomeone, also when I saw Jailer it was one badass creature to fight.
Keep rocking!
thanks guys, glad to hear you’re enjoying the game. The Jailer seems like it was done so long ago now. I checked the date stamp on the ZTL file and it said 12/2007
Here’s another Blast From the Past if anyone is interested, a version of the Wraith that was never used:

Man i love Darksiders, this is awesome !
Really great work.
You work is great. Did you model the hair up like that because it’s in the design and it’s supposed to float, or because it needs to be rigged as a soft body and it will fall down in engine?
really cool checking this stuff - awesome work - any mor to show??
yeah, that hair was sort of placeholder. Joe had this idea that he wanted the hair to move in a sort of floaty way like it was underwater. I was looking forward to seeing what the FX guys would come up with on that
man im playing the game now, came out on pc, the graphics are mindblowing, i love all character models, and the designs are beautiful, post moar if you have any !!!
I wish more of game dev studios would post their wips and models shoots after game release, its a rare thing nowdays.
Oh yeah and the game is great too ;D
Awesome stuff as usual Gray! It’s always good to see your work here.
Great work i like the design
SOO awesome mate, the design is delicate XD
