awesome work dude!! really great work! small_orange_diamond
small_orange_diamond
awesome model, the detail is incredible. i particularly love his face, the teeth and the horns. any chance of a close up.
sure thing, as you can see it really needs another pass for closeup shots. If it were to be baked onto a lowres game character it might be sufficient depending on how big the textures would be.
Cool!!! I really like that model!
Awesome and inspiring. Great work!
Awesome Job !
Awesome model! And such a cool breakdown of your workflow! Thanks for sharing.
Well done dude!
I love this sculpt! I also love the breakdowns of it you’ve given us so far. It’d be great to hear some more of the process behind this guy.
I’d love even more to see this thing in motion! He definitely looks like something from a game I’d be interested in playing love the face of skulls and such. You’re right that he could use another pass, though it’s tough cuz it looks like he’s fine in some places but needs a bit more detail in others… I don’t know.
Keep it up great work!
how many polygons you’ve used to build it???
Looks ace… only thing I don’t like is the design of the horns. Doesn’t go with the rest of the model as the look like they are made from wood. don’t like the shape either.
But I love the rest of it, especally the wings and the arm. Looks fantastic!
Wow that is quite an impressive sculpt. Pure Badassery all around…considering badassery is a word of course
small_orange_diamond
awesome!! I love the sculpt… you get a BAMF’n award in my book.
and badassery is totally a word
Great post, amazed at the the low polycount of 3.5mill, it would have been interesting to see what it would have looked like at the next level. Thanks very much for all the info on your construction methods, and process.
quality execution
@ Kotter: You should apply at id Software in Dallas, Texas dude.
I think with your skills, I’d definitely pick up the next Doom game that they’re working on. Great job!
this is really great work, I love the wings! good idea.
Very nice work, could you tell me how did you do the chains? and put them around the character. Thanks
thank you all again
I wasn’t sure on what else I could tell you guys about the process, but then the chains came up. There were going to be alot of chains so I had to find a good and flexible way to make them in maya, so I went to highend3d and found this script by Benjamin Kuperberg: http://highend3d.com/maya/downloads/mel_scripts/animation/chainMaker-5175.html
it’s a small script that makes chains It’s not perfect but it did the job.
after a couple of minutes trying to find out how it works, it was a quick and easy process.
I built a link, copied and rotated it to make a small tileable chain section. Then I put the rings were I wanted them and drew splines inbetween where the chains would be. If you’re going to try the script the trick is to manually type in how many instances you want. Takes a bit of trial and error but still alot easier then building it all by hand
can’t post any pictures since I don’t have my workfiles here but that’s pretty much it.
Wow! Incredibly nice work! 5 Stars from me
Hey kotter thanks for the link I have been looking for different ways to do chains for an upcoming character and this will defitnally help. My first thought was to do them with dynamics but this may prove to be simplier. Can’t wait to see the next guy you pump out!
