DDS: I can see what youā€™re saying about the chimera. I gathered lots of reference of animals while i was sculpting, and tried to be faithful to the anatomy, but maybe i didnā€™t push it far enough

dustbin1_uk: that would be insane to tackle every monster in the book! 26 is enough for me

i made a square of chainmail in max, and then imported it into zbrush and did a grab doc to create an alpha. then i used that on the standard brush. for those interested, i put it up on the web. you can download it here

I did something similar using arrays in Blender.

Though you can achieve tillable alphas within ZBrush itā€™s self if you want to.

Create a square canvas say 2k (2048 X 2048)

Create a ring tool on canvas. Go out of edit mode to 2.5D and press Shift + S to duplicate the ring. Press W to goto move mode and position the second ring. Then repeat this until the canvas is almost full. DONā€™T let any rings go over the edge!

When the canvas is almost full press and hold the ` key (not the ā€™ key, the one below the Esc key) or if your in the UK the @ key, and drag the mouse to offset the canvas. Then fill in the gaps with new rings, once thatā€™s done go to the Alpha menu and press GrabDoc and VOILƀ!! you have a tillable ring mail Alpha!

I then use this as a stencil or you could just use the standard brush and this as an alpha.

It takes practise but you can use this method for many different things. And it gives a more natural feel to the alpha when everything isnā€™t lined up so clinically.

Wonderful! Iā€™m glad you chose the Earth Elemental!

I think it needs some subtle poly paint to show off that moss detail.
