D&D Monster Manual A-Z

solidsnakexxx: thanks!

Skullbeast: I’m trying. it’s fun but tedious

ThatDon: when i’m in the grove, i go with it

jamespthornton: i think i will revisit the beholder teeth before i move on. they are bugging me now

3david: thanks!
DDS: I can see what you’re saying about the chimera. I gathered lots of reference of animals while i was sculpting, and tried to be faithful to the anatomy, but maybe i didn’t push it far enough

dustbin1_uk: that would be insane to tackle every monster in the book! 26 is enough for me

The chimera is simply breathtaking. I love it! The detail is just amazing. So what you going to do for D?

great job… you really raised the bar for yourself with the Chimera

when is there going to be a new post? i can’t wait!

get ready for an update later today…

as promised, here is the new monster. D for Deathbringer.

That’s excellent!

Did you use an alpha channel to make the chainmail?

nice detailing, Id also like to know how you got that detail in the chainmail…looks pretty sweet

You have made me a fan of your work through your continued excellence.

Great work:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:

and same question for the chainmail

WOW! Now that’s awesome!

I wonder how many more of these it’s going to take for you to get top row?!

your work is excellent !!!

very nice details

great work …!!!

i made a square of chainmail in max, and then imported it into zbrush and did a grab doc to create an alpha. then i used that on the standard brush. for those interested, i put it up on the web. you can download it here

I did something similar using arrays in Blender.

Though you can achieve tillable alphas within ZBrush it’s self if you want to.

Create a square canvas say 2k (2048 X 2048)

Create a ring tool on canvas. Go out of edit mode to 2.5D and press Shift + S to duplicate the ring. Press W to goto move mode and position the second ring. Then repeat this until the canvas is almost full. DON’T let any rings go over the edge!

When the canvas is almost full press and hold the ` key (not the ’ key, the one below the Esc key) or if your in the UK the @ key, and drag the mouse to offset the canvas. Then fill in the gaps with new rings, once that’s done go to the Alpha menu and press GrabDoc and VOILÀ!! you have a tillable ring mail Alpha!

I then use this as a stencil or you could just use the standard brush and this as an alpha.

It takes practise but you can use this method for many different things. And it gives a more natural feel to the alpha when everything isn’t lined up so clinically.

Amazing work so far! Love D&D creatures for sure can’t wait to see what you come up with next. This thread is bookmarked

Wonderful! I’m glad you chose the Earth Elemental!

I think it needs some subtle poly paint to show off that moss detail.

I’m really enjoying this thread mate. Keep it up.

Amazing works !!!
