I’m trying to play nice! Thanks for the comm Dustin!
Hi guys, I just finished Link… here’s a few pics. I sincerely hope you like my version… yes yes… I know he’s not that masculine… it was intentional. I wanted to make a badass Link.

I call this one “Bringer Of Doom”
He was initially a low poly model for FPSC but I liked him so much I thought I’d make him into a portfolio piece.

The mesh was built in MAX, refined in ZP, textured in ZB and Photoshop, and then rendered in ZB and composited in Photoshop.
I don’t know your background or skill level here, but just from reading this thread, it sounds like you just need to learn to take a crit. You dont seem to take it very well. I am sure this is useless to say on a forum, that is why I usualy dont. But earlier you asked why the rating is so low, and I assume it is because people read through the thread and see that you only like it when people say something that they like about your stuff. That is what I see.
You dont have to have the most amazing sculpt or work on here for people to enjoy a thread, it is usualy the ones where people have good atitudes and will take any help to be better. Thats my two cents.
Anyway, I would say in genral, you just need to learn more about form and rythm in your figures, not that you dont have an understanding of where muscles might be, but overall there seems to be a lack of understanding structure, and some basic things about scultping the figure.
Katon
Hi Katon… I’ll accept that, I suppose.
My biggest thing is I’m used to people putting me down. So I get defensive. Sorry.
Thanks for the feedback
No hard feelings at all, man. Consider however that when someone posts their work on an art forum, especially ZBC where feedback is so prevalent, that a desire for constructive criticism is implied. I mentioned what jumped out at me - I’ve been getting and giving CC for so long it’s an automatic reaction at this point. Most people get bent out of shape if they aren’t getting ENOUGH feedback. Oh well, my apologies if I ruffled any feathers.
I just need to remember that people aren’t attacking my work. Thanks for even taking the time to write.
I apologize for being an ass.
Cool, well good luck with your art!
I am sort of astonished at your response just there. You started out alright, but ended up looking as if you have quite the chip on your shoulder when imparted sound advice from a professional. Bad form. Perception is everything. When you ask why your thread is rated poorly and then proceed to explain you will never change you hit rock bottom pretty quick.
If you do not want criticism on your art consider not posting on a public forum in which critiques are encouraged.
That said, I hope to see you continue working at the sculpting thing. You’ve got a lot of enthusiasm–just channel it correctly.
If you dont like critiques or feedback, how do you expect to improve?
isnt 2/5 a lot ?;f considering some of the top rows get 4/5, its kind funny to expect a higher rating;] none of my threads got ever even a 1 star ;(((((
Stoo Foo - Your comment is taken into consideration, and I thank you for posting.
I didn’t realize that crits are encouraged until very recently when people started doing so. I will ultimately have to just channel that enthusiasm more constructively as you mentioned.
Update.
I edited this because I’m ashamed at how egocentric I can be. I apologize to you all!
I know that changes little, if anything, but you guys make valid points.
My fiancee asked me to make a model in her image, but I simply couldn’t NOT make something evil… lol… I adore her, but I cant make something cute! lol.
I started work on her around 5PM… I had a crapload of soda to keep me revved. lol
PLEASE KEEP IN MIND… its a WIP (WORK IN PROGRESS)

and the rest of the scene… It’s going to be pretty gruesome hopefully, but I may not go that route… I’m thinking clean and pristine shiny sharp objects… a few organs… perhaps a head… meh… we’ll see.

First thing first, let’s talk about your model. Your works, especially your newest one, is far from finish. In fact, that demon lady is so imcomplete that a low res model from box modeling would look better than that.
Every part of her, from muscles to porportion, are wrong. Her anatomy is wrong from head to toe, literally.
I know you are aware that it’s not done, but you either have a really low expectation on your works, or that you just can’t see it if you think it’s near completion…
Harsh? I am sorry but this is how the world of CG works.
Now let’s talk about your attitude towards critics. If critics aren’t welcome for you, do NOT post your work on a professional cg forum such as ZBC. It is ridiculous to see you reject every single useful critic from people, and call they are comign to get you on purpose.
your 400 subscribers on youtube means nothing, as those people who likes your works are amatures who will be happy to see any polymesh with displacment map on them.
step back for a second, look at your work, and look at the works that got 4 stars rating on them. Can’t you see the difference? If you are serious about being a 3d modeler, you should start learning how to get critics, and understand the fundalmental elements of 3d modelings instead of scupting alot of half baked models and be happy about them.
again, if you dont like critics from the professionals in ZBC, dont post your models here. Show them off in your little youtube channel and get praise from people who don’t even know about 3d.
Piggy:
Earlier I posted a harsh note… And I didn’t need to.
I didn’t need to because you had some good points, and while I may have found some of your comments cruel…they weren’t without merit.
They were meant to strip me of my ego… And I cannot deny that I need that on occasion.
I’m trying to turn a new leaf.
You are far too hot-headed to be posting on these forums. If you want high fives for work that does not appear to be finished, stick with youtube. He may have been harsh, but he’s right. “Half-baked” is a very apt observation. I watched some of your videos as this thread started unwinding and you come across comedically pompous. This is only reinforced by your balled-fist and clenched teeth in this last post.
The last video you posted this demon woman within seconds of it starting you inform me, the viewer, that you have been working on it since 5 oclock the day before. I can tell. A high res sculpt alone takes me OFWW to do. (One. Full. Work. Week.) One… full… work… week… And this is just for a simple monster. Bosses be damned. You seem particularly proud of something you could have been working on no more than 12 hours.
Your attitude needs and adjustment. This is not the message board to correct it. Please be aware that this sort of shenanigans only ends with your ego being assaulted even more than it already has been.
Huuugs for everyone! HAVE A NICE DAY FRIEND!
Clean it up, folks, or I’m going to start giving people some posting holidays. Attacks of any kind against other members are not tolerated at ZBC. Disagree all you want, but keep it polite or take it private.
Thank you.
Agreeing with the mod on this one, this board is for posting your work and receiving critiques to help you improve, not for having fights and arguments. I haven’t even been here three days and I know that, it’s just common courtesy.
Now for my views on Cubanb’s work. It’s pretty cool man, I like it and it’s a hell of a lot better than what I can do at the moment. But you do need to work on your anatomy and some of your proportions but with a little work you’ll be even better than you are now.
I apologize for being a prick. You were just trying to help, and I can appreciate that. So, I sincerely apologize.
I just get too defensive for no good reason.
Thanks for posting to begin with.
