creatures and schtuff

Thanks everyone! More images to come soon

nagulov: One thing I always try to do is work on my models in a systematic fashion. I focus on the bigger forms, making sure that they’re as clean as they can. I check this by making sure there are no wobblies on the surface that break up the specular highlights per form. Once I’m happy with the bigger primary forms, I then proceed to break them up with secondary forms while still keeping in mind the strength and cleanliness of each form I’ve established in the primary stage. Once I’m happy with secondary forms, I go through and break them up with tertiary shapes. I only work on surface detail when I am happy with the overall construction of the character. Most of the time I don’t even do the fancy surface noise pass since it does not interest me as much as achieving a clean read in the sculpt with bigger forms.

That would be my tip. Oh yeah, and practice, practice, practice

Yäy, Gio is back! Beautiful work as always!

yay! great to hear you’ll start posting more. really like your work.

Alexander: Much appreciated. Thank you

rasmusW: thank you! Love your works man…awesome stuff!

Here’s my fan boy rendition of the big green fella. I miss being in hard core creature anatomy world, so I figured what better way to get back into it than to revisit this particular Avenger but with my own take (riffing heavily off Jack Kirby’s version this time round). I may end up turning him into Planet Hulk eventually, but for now I’m having fun just blocking him out.

He looks really good. I can learn some things looking at him. Do you think you will go into more details?

Hey vlad, I’ll definitely get into details with this one. He’ll be all veins, muscle and…more muscle i guess heheh.

Will be great to see the result.

Here’s an update to the Hulk model. I decided to add his adversary, the Abomination.abomi2.jpgversus1.jpggreenguy1.jpg

I love the muscle definition.

Seconded. I love, love your forms, as I’ve had occasion to mention.

hey gio! once again. stellar work.
do you still use the workflow you described in “character modeling 3” or do you start differently since dynamesh came?

awesome to see your work around here man, great job as always!

Incredible.

Long time no post. I seem to go through spurts in updating this thread. I’ll definitely keep it more consistent (New Year’s resolution :))

Here are some new and not-so-new works I did last year. Hope y’all are having a great New Year so far.

Also, I wanted to take this time to shamelessly advertise my Zbrush class I’m doing with the good folks at mold3d. Check out the link and sign-up
