It just creates a very messy mask or nothing at all, not what the mask really looks like.
Thanks in advance.

Could you please describe the steps that you’re following? Which version of ZBrush are you using? Does the model have UV’s?
Model was created from a zsphere base. Using Zbrush 3.1. I just click on enable UVs so I can use the create alpha button.
That’s the problem. Enabling UV’s doesn’t assign UV’s. When UV’s are disabled, they’re actually deleted. Enabling them again doesn’t get UV’s back. It simply puts the mesh into a state where it can be UV’d.
After enabling UV’s, assign a blank texture to the model of whatever size you plan to work with. It should be a power of 2 (1024, 2048 or 4096 in size) and equal to or larger than the number of points in your model. For example, 1024x1024 is equal to about 1 million pixels, so is good for a model with under 1 million polygons.
Now press Tool>Texture>GUVTiles to assign GUVTiles mapping to the model. Then you can create your alpha.
Be sure to save the model after assigning UV’s to it. The UV’s are a part of the model itself.
Thank you. :D.
