Comic made with Zbrush

When i finished the piece I tweeted Bart Sears to pay my respect. It’s from Wizard #18. He then re-tweeted it to the people following him. It was pretty cool because I’ve been a fan of his since Justice League Europe. So when he put the pencil to my all time favorite hero it was a perfect match for me! I had an old Spider-Man model I tucked away since the zbrush 2 days. So I thought i would take a break from my characters and put it to good use and pay some respect.

Here’s my original sculpt.

awesome classic spidey pose!

I just received my second issue from the printer and presented it in my hometown at the 2011 Baltimore Comic Con. Here’s what it looks like. Thanks again to Luxo for for his contribution and matcap knowledge!

Kudos! The threads showing ZBRush’s potential for comics just get better. This thread is another great example. I’ve yet to see anything like this coming out of Marvel or DC.

I’m sure they will tap in eventually. In the meantime, keep pushing the envelope!

Kudos! Comics are gonna improve because of your pioneering efforts.

Great job on this! Top row IMHO! :+1: :+1: :+1: :+1: :+1: :+1:

Thank you Will! My hope is to garner enough attention to usher in this new age of comic book creation. Artists like myself, Luxo, and Damir want to bring a new level of entertainment and detail to this age old medium. Here’s some character development sketches I prepared for my comic.

Great work, and figure drawing skills,…and also really nice to see this new technology being used in the manner in which you are using it…:+1:

Hey i really dig the Forsaken sculpt. It would be cool to see a zbrush render of just him at some point!

I love the pen and ink drawing. It reminds me of Mike Kaluta’s work. The ZBrush work takes the concept exponentially into another realm.

So many comics characters today get lackluster and dated art from their creative teams. I hope the talent recruiters at Marvel, DC, etc are wising up to this new potential.

Print comics are an endangered species. Thankfully Marvel and DC have digital editions for their respective lines. This new style is a slam dunk for digital comics and motion comics.

Awesome images! Thanks for sharing! Happy ZBrushing! :+1: :+1: :+1: :+1: :+1:

Thanks to Clintus Maximus, WillBrown, and SpiritDreamer for checking out my work! Clintus had a good idea so i set aside some time to show some Zbrush renders and ortho views of my lead character, The Wraith. Hope you guys enjoy the images.

You might have already seen his stuff, but just in case you haven’t, here is a link to his thread in here…might be some useful stuff in it for you, seeing how you are both doing comics and are now using ZBRUSH in the process.

He also has a porfolio over at CG Talk, and a couple of tutorial threads in CG TALK…Stjepan Sejic / Nebezial

Thanks for the link SpiritDreamer!

Here’s 2 renders of the Wraith and his alter-ego Victor from my comic series, The Forsaken! Comments and critiques for the entire thread are more than welcome.

I would love to see more man. I Really love the Spider-Man you rendered out! SO TIGHT!

As requested here are some sketches I put to the side. Every now and then when I need a break from my comic and characters I like to work on some favorites I grew up with.

hi, you have awesome sculpts but your backgrounds are utterly distracting. also the images are so big I had to press ctrl and zoom out on my explorer to view your thread…

I would try putting a mellow gradient or 50 percent gray in the background rather than these. and please keep the width smaller for an optimum screen size for viewing purposes.

other than that, keep up the nice work. you are doing great.

Wow your sculpts are so great!!! Really, really good job!!
I would like to see a printed version of your comic

Hi Belbe,

Thank you so much for checking out my work! You can pick up issue 1 and 2 of, “The Forsaken” at http://artlivesforever.com/home/Store.html. Hopefully paypal is a viable option for you until I debut my digital download version.

Mini Cover.jpg

Here’s the cover to the mini-comic. It was my first published release before i made the decision to use my Zbrush sculpts to construct the interiors.

I didn’t want to re-do renders i already posted but I took some of Mavinova’s advice and toned down the the background and shrunk the size. Working on a 30"monitor has drawbacks when you want to post to the web. I guess you get acclimated to seeing everything really BIG.
