christopher reeve / superman

Very well done- I like the model better then the final render… but I love them both.

nice! really inspires. And i liked that half-movie half-comic look, came out really well.:+1: :+1: :+1: :+1:

Thanks for the comments, and nice words!

The Cheshire Cat: Thanks you!

Jaidek: Is not completely sculpt in zbrush imported from Max a very basic model.

kyphur: Thanks a lot!

stalsby: Thanks! Was a good anatomy practice.

Agent00J: Thanks! I really like wrinkles on the clothing, I think gives a mode natural looking

ricardo_sousa11: Thank you man! I really appreciate it!

jaystein: Thanks, I decided to do superman because of that as well.

Kupo: thanks you mate!

zerodean: Thanks for the comments! you are right I didn’t use any reference for the wrinkles or the stretching I made it just like I would like to see it, so I’m sure are not real at all. About the form along his spine I know it should more flat, I agree! I just though looks cool that way. Thanks for the help

comic_craig: Thanks, I like the model better than the render as well.

Thanks everyone!!!

Hi!

After all the comments I did a small update of the render that shows a bit better the model.

Cheers,

David

Great work! Really extravagantly cool! :+1:
His nose looks a bit weird though, almost as if compressed by some invisible clamp.

highlander_72: nose fixed, for some reason on the render I left the occlusion map on… I took the layer off. Thanks a lot!

The new render is outstanding! Great Son of Krypton!!! Great Ceasar’s Ghost!

Hi ! Great likeness!! my only critic i the body , he looks over the weight, a little fat, anyway great work!!

Alex Oliver

Stunning! one question maybe, what did you use to do the render?

willbrown1: Thanks man! I appreciate it

alexleia: Thank you! He looks a bit fatter but I though he should look less “perfect”. And he needs run instead to fly that much

abe_Tamazir:
For the rendering I have used Max and Vray, then I composed each layer on Photoshop, layers like reflections, occlusion, colour corrections etc…

Thanks every one!

David

Just an screen grab of the cape.

Cheers.

i absolutely LOVE the model. very very inspired and impressed, and i hate to crit things which are clearly better than i myself am capable of, but thats what these forums are partly here for right?

to me, the bit which i keep staring at is his chin/throat area. i realise his is tilting his head downwards, but i cant help but think that he’s ‘lost’ some of his throat! almost like his adams apple has been glued to part of his lower jawbone. then again, im really skinny and so i have a natural ‘curve’ from my throat to my chin, its probably supes muscular frame which is making me feel inferior and forcing me to critique an otherwise flawless model.

Hi, an amazing instantly recognizable likeness!! You gotta love that hair. Also excellent work on making him a damn site more muscley. I always felt superman in the films (new and old) looked like he couldn’t knock the skin off a rice pudding. Your version puts them to shame!!! Amazing work!

I think the model is great …
Only crit i have is his …errrr…“package”

Kinda looks like a woman down in his most manly region …
If you get what i mean

Great model though

did you texture him directly in zbrush? what was your process for textures?

Now- that is a much better render. Its a bit stylized- but I think you have to go there to allow for the fact it isn’t live action… the other render seems more realistic but not as appealing. One critique- his hair makes him look like he has a cone head. I didn’t spot this before because there was less contrast in that region. Its probably physically correct- but the angle just makes it look funny. That said- with a few tweaks, I hope this gets top row.

Great job
Craig

wow

deep_set: Hi, you can crit as much as you want. you are right that is what is this for  I guess I little touches on the neck would make it look better, Thanks man!

Chris Curtis:
Thanks a lot! That is why I did it more muscular, it seems that the ones for movies had to be an average anatomy structure to make it look fine to everybody taste, but I think superman has to be strong.

mrpeculiar:
Thanks dude, I know what you mean  a little bit more of would be better for sure

ConceptGuy: I did the texture using a camera projection for several angles on Max. I had use the displacement map as guide to fit the textures on the right place.

comic_craig:
Thanks! I saw that as well, but I saw it when it was finished, It is physically correct, I have over paint it a little bit. Thanks for the advise

Aanthanur: Cheers

Thanks everyone!

I grew up on christopher Reeve Superman Movies so I really like this. Even though it is fantastic… I do not remember himbeing so muscular. Even though it isn’t exactly like him it is a wonderful model. Great work.

darrickpister: Thanks a lot! I grow up with his movies as well

Cheers,

David
