Characters: Crazy Horse & Stuff

Well, I finally joined the dinosaur club. I’ll use this model for a next gen style game character. Went a little crazy with the detail maybe, kind of exploring and experimenting a bit. I figure I can always dial the detail back a bit on the game res model if need be, once I start texturing and seeing how it all starts coming together.

Here’s an update on my fat guy character. Kind of going in a fatcat/mob boss direction with him. Still got some work to do, but he’s coming along. Feedback welcome.

I’m sure that your work will be well recieved and appreciated by many. It certainly is a large body of work (no pun intended  ). I like the diversity and the work that you have put into the clothing.
Congrats from this ol’ dude!

Thanks for the thoughts and stoppin by hyper1!

Here’s some more shenanigans…an attempt at modeling a youngster…

Nice stuff you got going in here. Digg the indian and cowboy guy :+1:

Cool works man!
I can picture the Mercenary in a game without a problem. It is very well done.
I also like the detailing of the dino very much, it looks very carefully done. Did you make the back spines in the base mesh or in zbrush?

great models :+1:

great heads.:+1:

Thanks for the kind words folks.
Undoz - regarding the spikes, they were originally pulled out of the original ZSphere based mesh, and then once the general shape of the anatomy was established, I did a retop and transfer. I was basically making the model up as I went along so I didn’t plan on the spikes being there with the initial sculpt. Hope that helps

Here’s another creation, inspired by some Carlos Huante sketches as well as my recent epiphany about how totally badass hyenas are. My idea was to create some sort of genetically engineered hybrid animal. The result was the “Hygor”, a cross between a gorilla and a hyena. Kind of like a modern day, scientifically manufactured werewolf. Added a little DOF/atmosphere in Photoshop to the final render…

Like it!
I’ve been working on a fur alpha on and off for sometime now. Yours came out pretty nice. Did you use a alpha or sculpt all of them one by one?

Thanks sasquatchpoacher. Yeah, basically all sculpted by hand, in two passes. The first pass was for the primary forms, using the standard brush w/gravity on and alpha 38 with a rounded off alpha curve in the alpha adjust, and then a second detail pass on each primary form with alpha 54. So, basically nothing special  . Dig your work BTW.

Here’s the final output on my previous fatcat/mob boss character. Made a low res version in Max with normal maps etc. Comments and criticisms always welcome.

For fun render. Max scanline and a little post in PS…

It’s a very nicely done sculpt with lots of fine details, however it seems odd to see this native as a hulky bodybuilder type, It’s a bit like making Henry VIII a midget

Peter Folke - Hey Peter, thanks for stopping by. Yeah, I definitely took some creative liberties with the Crazy Horse model. Kind of a fantastical take on him, envisioning a sort of Native American gladiator. Legend is that Crazy Horse refused to allow any pictures be taken of him, as he believed cameras would steal a part of your soul, so maybe he really did look like that

Here’s a creature head sculpt I’m workin on. I’ll call him the Space Locust. Envisioning an insect like alien creature. Trying not to get too carried away with the details etc. I think I’m about done sculpting him, though I’ll revisit him in a day or two with some fresh eyes to make some adjustments and probably add some wear and tear/scars etc. Gonna get started on texturing for now. Feedback always welcome.
