castle

I have admired your lighting from the first time I saw one of your pieces, Marcel…
The floor figure is very well lit…It’s a lighting effect I’ve seen before, but you have a great tonal quality in the way you use it…
Thanks for the illustration as well. Again, I REALLY enjoy those. That classical style, almost ‘Ink and Wash’ is one of my persoanl favorites… :+1: :+1: :+1: :sunglasses:

wonderful castle ! very inspirational.

Wonderful!
You had reached a high level to define the atmosphere (light and environmet),is not easy say if the work is did with Maya or Lightwave or Zbrush…
Bye
Leo

Marcel - i know i told you before but i love love your pictures
They have a very high standard in lighting and coloring and i always wonder which software you use to achieve this.
I am just guessing but might it be the case youre rendering multiple passes with a high end renderer like mentalray and combine these later in a 2d application and do post?

Please if you dont mind - could you share some of the technique youre using with us?

Thanks for the treat to my eyes

The last drawing is made on paper or on computer ?
Autremend dit c’est un “scan” d’un croquis ou c’est réalisé directement à la palette graphique ?
Pilou
Ps Of course c’est toujours très beau

 jour fp! no it’s directly draw at graphic tablet; for those who want to try: first sketch, very rough, then opacity to 40%, then second layer, the first is seeible very light, and so on; so you draw by successive coats, more and more defined, (realist or every style, it doesn’t matter)deleting each precedent; at the end, you have (maybe) what you wish… i think it’s a very good approach of drawing, very “forgiving”… pilou, si bien sur ça t’amuses, y a un illustrateur western us incroyable, surtout au debut de sa carriere, qui s’appelle franck mc carthy… il fait que des cowboys, indiens et winchester, mais alors TRES bien… il semble introuvable sur le web, malgré une certaine notoriété… mais comlmle tu sembles avoir des links avec les dieux du web?.. amitiés M.

 thanks all of you for your kind workds… it’s always a pleasant moment, and i think always that i don’t answer at your pictures enough to “get back” that… anyway… nemo, i use two render software, depends of the necessity: first of all, zbrush in 2’5 pixols: at this format, the amount of precision and details is fantastic, in my idea more than any other 3d solution; i mean, get a pixols scene, export to photoshop, import the texture, it’s as defined than the initial document; but ther is problem on the shadows: usually i don’t care , because you have in zbrush a good amount of shadows and it’s easy to renforce them in photoshop, and in fact by this way you have more controls; ( and Mr Alon has in his artistic work a level of render in zbrush that i don’t understand, but IS possible!); second and last, if i wish to mix organic forms zbrush and more industrial form, then i rework in rhino and nurbs; i’ve explained how with the hands drawing… then i render in multipass carrara; i think of carra the best actual render traditional system (version3), it allows the displacement map with a little plug in, and it’s cheap… With sometimes vue d’esprit and amapi, that’s all…amitiés M.

nemo on this question of renders: here are 3 pictures, little advertising, each one on white, each with reflection; the us advertising for avinza is full zbrush, modelling and rendet, the vehicules are carrara; the difference is inoticeble, but ther was no long shadows…

great work once again. I’d love to see a video of you in action with Z

Que dire de plus Marcel…
Tu as deja déja épuisé tous mes qualificatifs et superlatifs…

L’homme qui s’extrait du cube est tout bonnement génial.

Hey there Marcel, Awsome work in every way! I just have one question, how do you convert your models to nurbs?

Opus

 thank you! krokus, ther is an explanation in the tyopic zbrush and nurbs: basically it’s simple (very) but tricky (sometimes very): i use the “level curves” function of rhino: if the curves are near one of each other, you have a very precise map of the zbrush object; if it’s a simple object, that’s simple: but the power of zbrush allows, and it’s the very only program to do that, to build very complicated shapes, very intricatezd; for example, sometimes , ther is on the home page a drawing of two dragons fighting; it’s one zsphre object, just one; that allows to “feel” well the movement and action, but to “translate” in nurbs it woulb be complicated; lot of curves, and a “split” tactic, if you understand what i mean in my poor english… well, once level curves finished, you loft, you rebuild to lightthe weight, and you have a nurbs object; hope this helps amitiés M.,

Pilou

Very imaginative and very well done as always. :+1: :+1: :+1:

Hi Marcel. WOW! I understood you very well. Thats alot of curves! I can’t export from zbrush, but I used my friends Rhino on an obj. however we did not use levels curve (couldn’t find it), we used MeshToNurbs. He is new to Rhino so we did not simplify it either.
Take care, OpusKroakus

Thank you very much for this explanation marcel =)

I totally agree to your statements regarding mechanically precise objects and ZBrush shadows.

I will evaluate this Carrara Renderer you mentioned soon.

Keep up the great work :+1:
