Hey, awsome to see another South African representing on the forums.
I’ve followed your work for a bit now and really enjoy checking out your new pieces.
His expression captures all that is wolfvarine.
Maybe he could do with a bit more emphasis on his fangs.

looking awesome man. Only crits, muscles on the leg are too blobby and the calve muscles are to round/big. I think you nailed everything above the waste though.
Thanks everyone for the crits and comments.
truthhunter: thank you! But theres always bigger and better out there ;).
What would you like to know about texturing specifically?
funkdelic: Thank you. I hope you like the new one.
nickz: Thanks for the kind words my friend. Hope to chat to you soon
.
lacluna: Thank you. I’m happy you like the hands
fabianloing: Hey thanks dude. When will we see more stuff from you?
SeanG: Hey dude. Hows middle earth? haha. Nah no spandex for wolvie. hehe
barbarossaX: Hehe. No update yet. Soon
abyss103: Thanks Bud
cashfire: Thank you.
Nick.Y: Thanks man. I was considering the fangs. Just hadn’t gotten to it yet.
bneall: Hey Ben. Thanks for the crits and idea. Its been a laugh chatting to you. Good times. haha.
This is what I’ve been working on for quiet sometime. I think this will be the final image as I’m very happy with it at this point and makes me smile. Its been quiet a long loney learning curve. The textures were done using polypaint, zapplink and photoshop and naturally the sculpt was done in zbrush. Everything is rendered in mental ray… No comping or cheating. Ok except the type :D. I hope you like it.
Thanks for looking.
Cheers
Brett
great work buddy!

P.S can you show the real photo of your dad?
you sure can be proud of this pict. it’s amazing. -and no compositing… -impressed.
-r
beautiful finish! You should post it as a separate thread and go to the top
btw - does no comping mean you were able to render it in 1 pass [the hair and skin!
]? geez…
Wow man, this looks awesome.
Fantastic work. I really love all the textures and lighting. You can really feel the softness of the sweater and I love that you can even see the little fibers being illuminated on the shoulder. The half-smile he has going is a really nice touch, too.
Peace
-Ryan
Thanks everyone!
rodion vlasov: Thank you. I’d prefer not to show a picture. I’d like to keep this as a tribute not a comparrison. What I can tell you is that my sister and my girlfriend sat with me critting. People that knew him and see this say it looks like him. Its been the most difficult piece for me. The refernce I have is spread over many years. So it was very difficult to get that one perfect picture and find another one in another view. Had this been some celebrity i could careless about I’d post pictures. I hope you understand.
abyss103: thank you very much my friend. I wish I could have comped. Hair makes it difficult to do that. I wouldn’t render a turnaround of him. haha.
Intervain: Hi mag. Thank you very much for those kind words. Its all one pass. It sounds dumb. I know. I tried comp. I just wasn’t happy. I couldn’t use displacement either. As shave crashed everytime. So its high res geo. I hope they fix that bug. It threw all my time off.
Goldenry: I’m really happy you like the half smile. I wanted an at piece calmness to him. Soulful I guess.
Thanks again guys. Zcentral is still a great place to post
