wow! amasing model! just one thing that bugs me is the size of the tail: cant see how it would be linked to his butt ? 
other than that, absoultely beautiful! i can see seems on his neck? is it different objects brought together in your modeling tool?

Thanks for the coments everybody, much appreciated. I’ve already modeled the base mesh for Von Klempt (the bad-guy head in a jar), I’ve just got to zbrush the head and then I’ll post it up. Then on to Abe Sapien.

Skraeck - I split it up to make the sculpting more managable. Torso/arm, legs, shorts and head are all separate models. In the end I’ll create a one piece low poly and render the local off the combined hi-poly pieces.
Dmg3d - the huge tail was a design choice, I’ve always felt Hellboy would look best with an enormous dragon-like tail. In the comics Hellboy doesn’t try to hide his tail, it sticks out a slit in the back of his coat.

Josh Tiefer - I get a lot of opportunity to practice at work, I modeled characters every day there, I don’t do much traditional work.
AndrewHwang-detached to make sculpting easier/polycounts more managable. After I finish all the models and lowpoly/texture them, I’m gonna try and persuade some of my animator friends to do some action shots with them.

great model and really nice sculpting. the muscles have a great organic feel, my only crit is that the upper arm seems to be a bit short.

Here’s Herman Von Klempt. I coulda gone wayyy further with the details on face, but I’m burnt out on this model. I’m gonna come back to it later. I decided to keep the retro shape and feel of Mignola’s design, and just add a few extras like the extra pipes around the spinal cord, and some misc. greebly-tech crap on the flying saucer part. Johann is next, he should be way more fun, lots of clothhhh! oh joy of joys.
oh and btw, thanks to Kris Costa for the skin alphas he posted in his Isomnia 2 thread, they were useful on this model, for the little bit of projection master that I did
