Great job on that wheel Gary. Thanks for showing the wire. Helps me to try and figure out how you managed to do the extract/extrude/bevel work on that. Ezra
Hey Gary, wow, it has been some time. As usual, so beautiful. Strange, I was just commenting about you over at Mobotato’s post (that car he made is sweet, you have to view it). Anywho, great HARD SURFACE work as usual.
thnx Dragon where ya been ??!! your gallery avatar - profile thingy has been blank for some time ?? was diggin your toon style !!!
Hi Gary, welcome back! Great to see your work again.
Cheers, David
Hi Gary, ya, been some time for me as well. To be honest, I have been working with ZBrush, but mainly, just doing some tutes and getting to know ZBrush a little more. Some time ago I bought the book by Paul Gaboury’s “Zbrush, Professional Tips+Techniques” and been working from some of the chapters from the book. I have also just been sitting back and watching all this cool stuff people have been putting up lately as well. But, to be honest, I have went back to oil painting. I was missing (what an officer in the military once told me) that HUMAN TOUCH. The smells that are related to working with oils, and the feel of the paint coming off the brushes and onto the canvas, the stretching of canvas, going to the art store and spending time looking for brushes etc… was simply missing all that. I have already created two ‘warm up’ pieces in Acrylic -see below- (don’t want to use the oil till I feel the ‘FEEL’ again, if you know what I mean… oils are not cheap). Anywho, I should finish my 3D Mayan and other ideas I have. Well, as usual, will keep an eye on your thread.
Wave in Copper and Stars in Copper:
PS: I did ‘losely’ base ‘Wave in Copper’ from an Abstract artist on the web (name??). My wife kinda liked it and I adjusted all the colours (the artists version had blues, purples, violets etc) I made it to complement our dining room colours. But again, just used it not to sell it, but to coordinate my wrist, hand and eye again. Hell, I even used copper paint and some gold flaking (to bad one cannot see all this detail in these photos). ‘Stars in Copper’ is all mine. Again, the lines you see in this one are copper paint. Very cool effect in person. Oh, their both 24x36 inches.
Wow those are great Dragon at least stayin active is good !! i see what you mean tho about hands on too me its assemblies - mechanical and hardware - i love the smell of grease in the morning ;) thnx for watchin !!
Wow Gary, that front end assembly for your new bike is really looking fantastic. Everything is soooo clean, as usual, with your HD work. Fantastic stuff.
Ezra
I second EZRA52’s comment. I look at your work at times and cannot help but think ‘he’s gotta be using Silo, Max, or Maya’. But, I know your not. It truely is incredible the CLEAN work your able to produce with ‘Z’. Strange you would mention the ‘mechanical’ smells. Those smells bring back good memories for me. They remind me of a time now lost. Whenever I smell a certain grease, gas or any vehicle order, they take me back to when my old man use to get my brother and I up early on Saturday mornings to help him with his car. Those good ol memories-
Thnx Dragon and EZRA you guys are the best !!small_orange_diamond

Very cool stuff Gary. In the little time I’ve had for Zbrush lately I’ve been working on a bike too. Mine is nowhere near the quality of yours. Your a great inspiration for doing HS in ZB. I love seeing your work.
