ANother zif figure tool...... Dear Mr Gates

Thanks for your hard work on this Ed. I have a hard time doing people so this should be a big help to me.

JIM

Right, EZ (who some of you may remember)has kindly consented to allow the tool with his repairs to be posted. So here it is. Thanks EZ…he saved my bacon, along with Stonecutter and Koroko so thanks to them too.

Play with the adaptive preview settings…
If you wish to move the little toe in closer to the other toes a slight move to the left and slightly up when in the unpreviewed stage of the model ie the Zif. Then check to see (in preview mode)that it has been moved correctly. You will know if it has been moved too far…as it must have its own colour and also not be combined with another toe. Bit of practice needed if you wish to move the little piggy.

Here are some shots of the model in preview mode, density 4…

And the tool…

ez-figure_zsphyup.zip

And here is what you can do with it in 10 minutes in preview mode…nothing flash, nor finished

Ridiculously easy to model for anybody, now anyone can keep up with The “Jones”

Thanks Ed, will be a huge time saver for me.

I hope I can return the same kindness to the forum soon…darn mandatory OT is killing me.

Thanks again for the time well spent andthe spirit in which you pass it on.

Thanks to all the people who have taken the time to reply to this thread and the previous one…I hope you find the tool useful,I know I do

As time permits I’ll upload a completed human template with enough modelling on it to give anyone a good start…the way my time goes…in about 3months.

Cool. Now, will we have a dragon tool, a bird tool, a horse tool, a dog tool, various monster tools, etc., etc., ad infinitum? And if so, is there some way I can profit from all this?

Yup rdf…by modelling as best you can  and showing the world.

i’m kinda iffy about using “provided templates”, dunno why…however, i will use this to learn from, so that i can make successful humanoid zsphere structures from scratch myself…thanks ed, and all that have helped to make this possible!!

cheers!

Hi abxy…Yep I know what you mean…

This model can still be improved and if you succeed in improving the overall structure it would be a great gesture if you posted your results (the tool)for all those here that may not be able to model as well as the few.

ed_the_atom,

Very generous of you.

With time, I believe this figure will amass an wealth of ZSphere props (shoes, hats, socks, forks, snorkels, etc.)

He’s a sculptable, morphable Ken doll.

It’s Pod Person Ken.

Where’s his Barbie?

Her pod’s likely still bobbing in space.

Well started a preliminary modelling session on bits and pieces of the tool in preview mode…with an eye to uploading the thing in prieview mode when finished.

I will say that perspective or lack of it is a right pain in the butt, and so too is the sizing of elements when you can’t see the whole while modelling… give me the good ol’ sphere3d any day.

However all that aside…it is possible to do and to do well given a couple of lifetimes
 …naw I’m getting used to it slowly.

So here is some brief incomplete modelling for me to look at tomorrow and reply to

Thanks Dc…but ken was divorced by Barbie, she’s now running around with some Aussie surfer… upset me a great deal that did…burnt all me Barbies

Well here is the latest Zif tool…I like this one better than the last one… I’m too lazy to organise a picture of it…

This is something I did playing with it in preview mode, but the computer was overloaded by it…density 6, 800,000 polys, turned into a crawl so could not model it in the end.

SO Dear Mr Gates could you please send me a new computer with a gazillion gigs of RAM so that I can model. Actually anyone with a spare million or two will do, I’m not fussy.

Here is the new figure tool…
thefigure.zip

Great but there is no way on earth you need 6 million polys to model that. Try to be a bit more conservative with subdivision. 6/4 is 1.5 million polys so 1 division upper should be sufficent to your needs. If you had 30% more polys in your origial zif model you would hit, 125,000 500,000 and 2,000,000 polys which is a really nice distribution of polys for sub div modelling i think. Maybe a bit more if you have a better computer or less. I really dont see anyone needed even on the fastest computer more than 4 mill poolys.

Thanks reboren…yeah I think this tool was given too much density in preview adaptive skin mode or something…I have no idea.
It was 800,000 polys at density 6. Any lower the models look worse.

I adaptive skinned the thing…memory wise workable…mesh utter rubbish.
The tool is to be scrapped…pictured below.

To anyone who may have downloaded the tool above, delete the chin sphere it messes up the face mesh.

Pic adaptive skin raw model no postwork and utter rubbish as a mesh. I am slowly getting sick of Zifs.

Nice.
Arnold Schwarzenegger in drag?

Wait.
The hands… Stallone!

hi ed … nice to see your progress … … dont give up, you are almost there  … yes, try to keep the polycount LOW ! yes i know, thats against philosopshy of new z2, but you will see, the less polys you have to move, the easier is to get basic forms as you want … and you can always subdivide later for more detail … wonderful project of yours :+1:
only, please, please give her some eyeballs

Yep Angst You have almost got it…It is actually Stallones Mum…the younger years…well done.

Thanks Koroko …struggling on…I am so used to models without eyes, that now they look wrong when they have them.

Thanks Koroko I have it now.

This is easy peasy

Quickie…

Time to move on to other applications
